L.A. is a Mexican-American city. The majority of the population is made up of racial and ethnic minorities. We are all happy living together and really do not want to see our friends, neighbors and families being terrorized by federal robo-cops. This is bullshit.

About 1/6 of the total population of Serbia protested government malfeasance today. In the US that would be more than fifty million people.

4 year old quote of the day. "Babies can only pick up mice. I'm strong and could pick up a whole case of beer!"

To be clear, he has not, to my knowledge, ever picked up a case of beer.

once again I have to invoke the specter of Ronald Wilson Reagan, who is in Hell now. under Reagan, the term "government spending" was effectively demonized. fuck you, Reaganite ghouls! spending money, on its people and their needs, is the function of government! public works are good! say so!

First, they said postponed; now the meeting is canceled. That means no flu shots next year.

“'It’s a six-month production cycle,' Dr. Offit said. 'So one can only assume that we’re not picking flu strains this year.'"

Fundamentally, that's a form of mass murder.

F.D.A. Cancels Meeting of Vaccine Experts Scheduled to Advise on Flu Shots
The cancellation plays into fears among scientists who worry that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will use his position as health secretary to sow doubts about vaccines.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

"The cuts... echo the Silicon Valley mantra of “move fast and break things.” That attitude can work for an app trying to keep users entertained. But when parts of the federal government break — say, health care or safety functions — people can die".

4 year old is anxious about asteroids after learning about the dinosaurs, & I've spent a lot of time reassuring him the chance of the planet being hit by an asteroid is almost nothing, & that we have the technology to handle it if one comes close.
