I have a much better appreciation of Native American beliefs that way.

So different framing I guess - I’m learning to embrace uncertainty instead of the false certainty I had with Christianity.

I now have a different understanding of how those experiences are generated. Also, my additional study into genetics/evolution has opened me up to appreciate nature in a way I never did as a Christian where “mankind is the apex.” We aren’t, we’ve all evolved together.

For me, I was a very “spiritual” person when a believing LDS. When I determined the LDS truth claims were not what they claimed to be it was like my spiritual switch was turned off. I’ve not had a desire to pursue spirituality since. That said, I’ve never argued people don’t have those experiences.

Collateral damage. Not many Bible thumpers who love to critique Mormons stick around following me because 1) I point out their views don't hold up to scrutiny either 2) I point out if they successfully de-convert a Mormon they likely will have created an atheist.

The deportation order is based on Vedam’s conviction for murder—a crime he did not actually commit and for which he’s now been wholly exonerated. He entered the US at 9 months old and was a legal permanent resident before his conviction. We are so, so, so far from the light of justice.

Also: if you work for ICE, even if you’re not one of the ones arresting citizens or tackling 15-year-olds or zip-tying kids together and segregating them by race, you’re part of the mechanism making it happen, and you should suffer long-term social and post-regime-change consequences.
