TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

Christmas Suicide Squad/Space Jam style thing where Krampus, Ebenezer Scrooge, the dad from Jingle All The Way, The Wet Bandits and Hans Gruber have to team up to stop the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come (mid-mental breakdown) from reaping the souls of every child on Earth

This has come round again due to being relisted on the front issue and some people are just so miserable that there's a box that they don't need to tick because it's not pertinent to their circumstances. Also woeful grasp of analogy and absolutely Kindergarten Cop understanding of gender.

Amazing how few commenters on this article are aware of the ability to legally be listed as anything other than two bimodal sexes on Australian documents such as passports and birth certificates.

First session of our new D&D campaign, set a time jump into the future, and one of the first things we did is establish that our previous party still own their tavern and run Battle of the Bards competitions there. #roleplaying #priorities

If I had UBI to cover the basic food, bills, cozzie livs stuff, I would still work because I assume that my physiotherapy and psychiatrist wouldn't be covered by it. But I probably wouldn't pick up extra weekend work. I'd let myself have dedicated free time to do all the things I don't right now.
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

“Have Yourself A Merriam Little Christmas”

Merriam, a career-oriented lexicographer from the city, returns to her small town for the holidays and meets Webster, a ruggedly handsome librarian, who shows her the true DEFINITION of Christmas.

sinead’s master list of basic makeup tips for those starting out:

- lips + mascara will do a lot to pull a look together if you wanna go simple to start

- if you hold your jaw open while you apply eye makeup, your eyes will be held a decent bit more still

(1/11)
was asked to give advice to a young woman starting out using makeup. put together a sorta long list of tips for newbies. 💄

would there be interest in me sharing that list here?

don’t wanna bother if it’s not gonna be useful to anyone. is just a bunch of easy lil things that help with learning 💜.

@rianjohnson.bsky.social WUDM was a delight! I'm hung up on the numbers on the church wall, 146 and 370 if I've remembered correctly. Are they references to hymn numbers?

I thought when I started playing #BluePrince that I was very clever setting up a notebook with pages numbered 1–46 to make notes for all the rooms.

Ha. Hahahahaha. Noooo.

We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.

I genuinely try so hard not to read the comments on articles on news.com.au, but it's becoming abundantly clear that some people think that voting No to the Voice to Parliament meant that Aboriginals had to shut up forever, and just... no.

Speaking out in other ways is what you get now, No voters.

The trouble with Stephen King withdrawing his novel 'Rage' from sale is that the number of people who will understand what I mean if I say that this defence lawyer is cross-examining this complainant like they're Charlie Decker and Don Grace is very few.

Can anyone provide me with the timestamp(s) for when 'Iris' gets played in Deadpool and Wolverine, or a way to ID when it's imminent e.g. what's happening in the scene? I would really like to watch the movie, but I can't listen to that song.

Parents: please teach your children the correct words for their body parts including genitals, and please teach them it's not okay to be touched without consent, particularly on the genitals.

Even if your child is never victimised, if one day a friend tells them that something wrong has happened...
