Fair, but this argues against a presidential nominee from California
California Governor Gavin Newsom said on Thursday that the Democratic Party needed to be “more culturally normal” and “less judgmental.”

Fuzzy socks are cute, but if someone you love is dealing with cancer, a home-cooked meal or help with laundry would mean way more.

Sometimes the most practical gifts are the most caring (and online gift lists reflect what folks are trying to sell) buff.ly/bVGLYlf
Buying a gift for a loved one with cancer? Here’s why you should skip the fuzzy socks and give them meals or help with laundry instead
Gifts that make a true connection acknowledge the ugly parts of illness and provide relief from daily burdens.

Even those who are not interested in meditation can see a new way of looking at things in this article. And you can easily grasp the concept without worrying about the new term "interbeing."

Carolyn Kirby's research for her new novel, Ravenglass, made her wonder what lay behind the apparently radical shift in men’s fashions in the late 18th century: the invention of the ‘masculine’ style that still dominates menswear.

I was having a good day until I saw this. Yes, we're talking about traditional Medicare, not Medicare Advantage or Medicaid. It shouldn't affect me right now, but it will affect the people in the six pilot states and it's a slippery slope.

'Restaurant' comes from the same French word that gave us 'restore.' This is the reason why there is no 'n' in 'restaurateur.'

Exactly. I'm agnostic and celebrate the solstice myself. I also celebrate Christmas with my kids. It's a religious holiday as well as a cultural holiday for them because my late husband was Catholic. My favorite carol is 'O Holy Night.' I don't see a conflict, and I don't feel like a hypocrite.
Sorry, Byron — the “War on Christmas” is over.

Christmas is a cultural holiday now, celebrated by millions of non-Christians and even atheists, built on traditions that long predate Christianity.

In a pluralistic country, everyone is free to enjoy the season in their own way.

🌲 Home means Nevada, and this season, we all want to get across it safely.

With gift lists, grocery runs, and late-night drives to see family, the last thing any of us needs is a close call with wildlife on a dark highway.

WOW. There is so much research in this article I had to take a break and go back to finish reading it. (The research included a visit to a mobile home park in my part of the world.) It was fascinating and infuriating to see how he got rich. Gift link: www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

I've had a negative view of self-driving cars until I saw this quote. They could bring freedom to so many who can't drive or shouldn't be driving for various reasons.

I love the way these historians' minds work, and I love the way these people solved the problem many years earlier.
How Easter Island's giant statues were transported remained unsolved for decades. Physics, morphological analysis and a comprehensive 3D map now show the moai, or statues, were "walked" upright across the landscape using principles of lateral oscillation. buff.ly/Lj0PMep
Drones, physics and rats: Studies show how the people of Rapa Nui made and moved the giant statues – and what caused the island’s deforestation
The mysteries of Easter Island, subjects of speculation for centuries, yield to scientific inquiry.

I know we know this, but authors need to get better at talking about how they actually make their money. Stop pretending it's from the books.
