The only campfire soundtrack I like more are loons. Ever been up to the Adirondacks? We’d camp and canoe there when I was a kid. Unforgettable sound.

Apparently they migrate through NV. I understand it’s decreased substantially. Never seen heard one myself.

Yes. I’d say that’s West desert, USA.

Great Basin is my guess. If I saw a Joshua Tree then Mojave. Saguaro then probably Sonora.

This looks a lot like Northern Nevada but could be South America just as easily.

The first one gives me a feeling of anticipating something good and its arrival. It seems hopeful.

The second, to me, is more complex and foreboding. Like storm clouds forming.

I’ll take a Navy vet’s word on this as the rule to follow. I made this mistake in a post earlier.

It almost seems dependent on the context of the (mis)usage as to whether it ,“sounds” right. Science fiction writers muddy the water.
