Attacks on the federal workforce are also attacks on Black workers, who are overrepresented in the public sector.

Black unemployment is 7.5%. I'm reminded of Coates' observation that Black Americans regularly experience conditions that would be considered a crisis if whites faced them.

This is such a clever idea on taking kids to museums/galleries
www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...
Nadia from London has an idea that sounds such fun you'll be booking a day out asap.
"I've always loved museums," she says,
"but they can be overwhelming for children. For decades now, I've done something called 'playing postcards'
We do
the museum backwards, visiting the gift shop first. Each child gets to choose three postcards. Then they take it in turns to find that particular artwork in the museum and give us a little information about the piece from the details on the postcard, or from any gallery plaque. At the end of this treasure-hunt-style activity, we vote for our favourite in the cafe."

Capitalism is awesome because no one can afford groceries and instead of blaming anyone with wealth or power we get mad at people living on the street or trying to move to the country to work

The consequences of failing to extend these tax credits will be devastating to individuals, families and hospitals. Red states will be disproportionately impacted, due to the lack of Medicaid expansion in the same states. The Republicans are eating their own.

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

Listen. ONE of the reasons I rock with Dolly (Capricorn Gang) is because she’s always proven to me that integrity may cause you pain, but it will never be the reason you suffer. Which is not to say that suffering won’t come, but it’ll never be because you abandoned yourself. That’ll keep you going.

What would happen if people instead watched 24hr a day of examples of care and generosity towards others in everyday small ways? Like imagine the endorphins out there from that yall

A study of nearly 300,000 people published today in the New England Journal of Medicine found “that last season’s 2024–2025 mRNA COVID vaccines reduced people’s risk of emergency department visits by 29 percent, their risk of hospitalizations by 39 percent and their risk of death by 64 percent.”

So according to SCOTUS it would seem that states have the right to ban gender affirmative care that professional organizations support but do not have the right to ban conversion therapy that professional organizations condemn. Professional expertise literally has no legitimacy anymore.

Without the ACA enhanced premium tax credits, Marketplace premiums could more than double.

A new KFF poll finds 7 in 10 Marketplace enrollees say they could not afford their coverage if premiums doubled — and 4 in 10 say they’d likely go uninsured. https://on.kff.org/4q7ElGy
Pie chart showing responses to a new KFF Health Tracking Poll: 42% would go without insurance, 37% would continue with their current health insurance, 22% would get insurance from a spouse or employer.

ICE admits that up to 50% of arrests in its Chicago raids are "collateral.” These aren't statistics. They are parents taken from their children, neighbors taken from our communities. When does a "collateral" U.S. citizen child's trauma matter? This isn't law enforcement; it's a campaign of terror.

Yep, I ordered some clothes from the UK and DHL messaged me and said I had to pay an extra $180 for the tariffs in order to receive them so I said oh. Ok, send it back I guess. 🤷🏻‍♀️ everything is fine.
adamrose.bsky.social
How bad are tariffs going?

I paid for $32 of shaving cream from Canada. Unique stuff I’ve used for years, nothing like it in US. Small family business.

UPS guy came to my door today with box and said I have to pay additional $120 before he can hand it to me.

That makes it 5x more expensive!!! 🤯
Screenshot of message from UPS:
