Today's AWS outage, which affected a range of websites and applications—from Signal to Fortnite to key UK government services—reveals the dangers of relying on a handful of Big Tech firms, write Article 19's Corinne Cath and Don Le. These are not glitches; they are democratic failures, they say.

Was Paul Ingrassia just another one of those “kids in a text chain” that Vance likes to make excuses for?

It’s hard to keep track of all the racists that Trump elevates to positions of power.

Don’t expect any apologies or consequences.

He will fail upward like the rest.

Demolition crews began tearing down part of the White House to build Trump's long-desired ballroom — despite his pledge that construction of the addition wouldn't "interfere" with the existing building.

The addition costs $250 million. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
White House begins demolishing East Wing facade to build Trump’s ballroom
The president had claimed construction of the $250 million ballroom wouldn’t ‘interfere’ with the existing White House structure.

Last week, I broke the story of how a Russian street fight promotion expanded into the US with help of neo-nazis from the Active Club network & Patriot Front.

Streets Fight Club (SFC) has promoted no-rules, bare-knuckle fights on Instagram & YouTube while raising funds for Russia’s war on Ukraine.

In the last nine months, ICE has spent a whopping $71,515,762 on purchases of “small arms, ordnance and ordnance accessories manufacturing.”

Now, the president's masked militia will have access to “guided missile warheads.” trib.al/HE4yiXN

NEW: Paul Ingrassia, Trump's nominee to lead the Office of Special Counsel, told a group of Republicans in a text chain the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday should be "tossed into the seventh circle of hell" and said he has "a Nazi streak," according to a text chat viewed by POLITICO.

The New York Times should be writing paragraphs like this:
“Mr. Trump originally said back in July that the construction of his ballroom, at a cost of more than $200 million, ‘won’t interfere with the current building.’ But that was a lie, as was suspected at the time and was proven Monday.”

The New York Times’ cynicism is intolerable. After Trump began demolishing part of the East Wing for his ballroom project, NYT noted that Trump said in July it “won’t interfere with the current building.” Instead of casting that as a lie, NYT softens it by saying his promise “seemed unrealistic.”
Gross 🤢
The scene at Mar-a-Lago is as gross and creepy as you imagined, with these old pervs chasing their surgically enhanced prey with Trump acting as sick Degenerate-in-Chief. bsky.app/profile/mehd...
So, per reporting from Zeteo’s Asawin Suebsaeng, in today’s new ‘First Draft’ newsletter, Trump tried to get a newly-divorced Russ Vought, Project 2025 architect & now budget chief, laid at Mar-a-Lago.

The details are, ahem, as crude as you’d expect from Trump.

You know it’s bad when this is like the 4th or 5th worst Republican scandal of the day.

I know we say this all the time so it’s become cliche, but can you imagine the hysteria that would be happening right now with Republicans if Obama did the exact same thing to the inside and outside of the WH that Trump is doing? It would be 24/7 on Fox for months. We all know why.
