How Trumpism is like Stalinism. A thread. 🧵🧵🧵
Many people make valid comparisons of Trumpism to Nazism. But I think MAGA authoritarianism bears more similarities to Joseph Stalin's Soviet Union – ruthless, paranoid, dishonest and determined to climb into every aspect of the lives of his people.

$678M raised through those spam tactics

$282M to one consulting firm: Mothership Strategies.

$11M to actual campaigns (1.6%)

The party isn’t just treating donors like marks—it’s being fleeced itself yet continues to back Mothership.

I’m a year younger than him. What a whiner. It was a white man’s world throughout my education and job search. Some R1s were just starting to think about maybe hiring some women and POC. He doesn’t like that the world he grew up in changed.
What discrimination did Andreessen face? He went to a public university & was able to work on early federally funded research projects on computing, and turn that into a career.

The insanity of the last 8 years? Workers or online posters who disagreed with him? A government that dared regulate him?

Let that sink in, an entire university is treating immigration enforcement like a public health crisis.

When The U.S. Government Tried To Replace Migrant Farmworkers With High Schoolers
In 1964, a program that brought migrant Mexican laborers to the U.S. ended. So the U.S. recruited American students to pick crops instead. When they saw their living conditions, strikes ensued.

Good morning. We knew the answers to questions like these when the JCPOA was in effect.

Again, in a more serious country, unilaterally withdrawing from that agreement would have immediately ended Trump's first presidency & destroyed the GOP's reputation on national security policy for a generation.
