The sea change of fandom to move from transformative works in private due to copyright lawsuits and queer rep to the hassling creators to enshrine any relationship stuff in canon has been weird (and ironic given IWTV's history specifically)

Also worth noting that the xenomorph was designed to psychosexually terrorize men specifically :) these excerpts are from the ALIEN edition of Alamo Drafthouse “Birth Movies Death” magazine (2017)

Dan O’Bannon explicitly state his intent to sexually attack the men in the audience and not the women. He says he’s “going to every image [he] can think of make the men in the audience cross their legs”

The writers briefly considered having the xeno fuck somebody to impregnate them but opted for the face hugger instead, and chose to have it target a man first to subvert genre expectations and “evoke subconscious imaginings of male rape”

From a horror perspective? Alien. Predator is rad but they’re really not scary at all. They have a clear ethos for their hunts, are intelligent and communicative, and do actually play well with others when it suits them. Xenomorphs are animalistic, instinctive, psychosexual, and indiscriminate.
