I have read the Bolton indictment. I am thoroughly unimpressed by these allegations. If this manages to make it to trial and a conviction, DOJ just opened a Pandora’s Box for future Administrations to go all out after all senior officials’ handwritten notes every time there is a change in power.

Everyone can read Bolton's indictment & judge as they want, but this is far, far weaker (and more customary of conduct by senior govt officials) than allegations against President Trump in stealing & storing marked classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.
I've handled countless classified prepublication & Espionage Act cases. Bolton indictment, which is very similar to Gen Petraeus case (2 years probation, $100k fine), should raise concerns for every senior govt official who writes a book.

Because this is generally how it is done.
Happening now: DOJ has charged John Bolton, a former national security adviser to President Donald Trump who became one of his fiercest critics, for his mishandling classified material.

Isn’t it something how the Trump regime and Republicans in Congress have been accusing Democrats of exclusively using inflammatory rhetoric while simultaneously saying over the top stuff like this?

Newsom: This president appears unhinged… seems listless… he seems, dare I say, in decline—cognitively, and… physically. These are just the rantings of someone who needs an intervention, needs some help, needs to be stabilized.

Jeanine Pirro’s office tried three times to indict a woman on bogus felony charges of assaulting an ICE agent. A DC grand jury turned her down each time. So Pirro brought a misdemeanor charge instead. And now a trial jury has acquitted her of that. www.huffpost.com/entry/sidney...
Jeanine Pirro Strikes Out Yet Again In Federal Court
Prosecutor Jeanine Pirro failed to secure a felony indictment against the woman three times, then lost a jury trial on a misdemeanor charge. Ouch.

This is such a powerful piece from @reptroycarter.bsky.social and @repfields.bsky.social on the importance of the Voting Rights Act.

As the Supreme Court hears arguments on this legislation, it is so vital that we all remember WHY it was enacted.

BREAKING: Seventh Circuit rejects Trump admin's request to deploy National Guard in Illinois while litigation over the effort continues, holding Trump likely did not follow the law for doing so. The unanimous ruling keeps a TRO in place blocking deployment but allows troops to remain federalized.
The administration argues that the President's federalization of the Guard under § 12406 is not judicially reviewable at all. Alternatively, it contends that the factual predicates of
§ 12406(2) and (3) are satisfied in light of the deference due the President's decision to federalize the Guard. We conclude, at this preliminary stage and given the district court's factual

Trump couldn't care less. He's too busy driving up costs and giving tax breaks to billionaires.
