Those are important factors for sure, but I think a bigger aspect when it comes to monsterfucking is the sense of danger and the unknown. Like fucking something with huge claws, monstrous fangs, etc that could so easily hurt or kill you, but for whatever reason, chooses not to.

It's XCOM in the 40k universe! Don't worry tho, you don't need to know much about 40k to enjoy it. I don't, and I had a great time. While the XCOM similarities are clear, it streamlines much of the formula and introduces a lot of it's own unique mechanics.

Okay back to the RPGs! Solasta is based on DnD 5e, but you don't *need* to be familiar with DnD to enjoy it.

The main campaign is okay, but the real draw is all the user-created modules. This is one of those RPGs you can easily sink hundreds of hours into.

Much of what I said above also applies to Our Adventurer Guild. This game just rules - it's one of those rare 100+ hour RPGs that actually keeps me engaged and having fun the whole way through.

If you like XCOM style sRPGs, it's a must-play.
