A thing I just had cause to figure out:

When someone quote-posts you, with a question, but has comments locked so you can’t answer, that person is an asshole, and you should immediately block them.

Saw someone post about Mamdani getting shit done straight away and how rare that is. It kind of suggested that a lot of politicians aren’t really trying to get much done, which I don’t dispute, but also, as a dude in my 50s, it’s a lot easier to get shit done when you’re in your 30s.

Everyone thinks they're badass until the snow starts talking with a Minnesota accent
To any ICE agents reading this who are from down south—you have never experienced anything like this cold. Our European climate equivalent is literally Stalingrad. It will hurt to breathe. You will be outside in it. So will we, but we are used to it.

Next week is what will break you.
We've lead charmed weather lives so far in January.
Temperatures are +5F to +10F across MN so far this month. 🌡️
We're about to be reminded what persistent cold and occasional snow feels like. ❄️
MSP could bottom out -10 to -20 next Tue.

Senator Warren's speech this morning on the future of the Democratic Party is no holds barred. From Epstein's pals in the halls of power to the billionaires trying to buy the media and former Senate colleagues who sold out, Warren and took aim at those holding the party back

Poor FOX News. Not the sound bite they were looking for.
FOX: Where’s the protest against the regime that's killing people in the street right now?

Trent: They are doing those today. It’s called the ICE protests

FOX: Are they talking about Iran at the ICE protests?

Trent: No, I think they are talking about the regime that is shooting people in the face

/4 Trump and ICE and the rest of the fascist scum can murder and lie and oppress, but they can’t kill that decency that some real Americans have. They don’t have it, they are inadequate without it, and it infuriates them. But they can’t kill it.

Right?!?

Democrats are being handed Easy Mode: Just say literally these two sentences one time each, and that’s a landslide election!

Why are they instead designing AI-powered robots to help them sit on their own balls?!?
Democrats need to understand that they can just say “It’s insane to threaten Greenland” and “I don’t think ICE should murder Americans in the street” and you don’t need to pretend to link it to the affordability crisis.

Say bad things are bad.

Are you fucking kidding me?

How the FUCK does any member of the Democratic party support *further increasing* ICE funding, in the same week when ICE just shot *three* people in two different cities, for opposing the jackbooted thugs??

This is why I don’t trust Democrats.

This is a really important moment, possibly an inflection point, in Chicago politics. We're seeing people power in action.

Huge thanks and props to @unraveledpress.com for covering the event.
Hundreds of people have packed into Chicago's Thalia Hall tonight for a community listening session on CPD collaboration with ICE/CBP.

Police district councillors who gathered petition signatures required to hold tonight's hearing are opening by thanking the community for showing out.

Laughing at "I don't know why they do the head." Knowing that the cameras are on them as they do, Bovino proudly, not even cowering behind a mask like the others.

CBP and ICE are (among many other things) inconsistent with a healthy democracy. There's no choice but to abolish all of DHS.
Driver: “Criminals doing Uber? Maybe criminals are doing ICE, how about that, you know what I’m saying? Y’all shoot enough people… You shot her in the head! For what?!”

Agent, heckling: “I don’t know why they do the head, man” [Bovino and other agents laugh].

Hot take: the US should join the ICJ and then submit the former regime to be prosecuted under international, not national, law. Especially if it seeks to, in any way, salvage the idea of a rules based international order. This is the perfect (and only) way to restore any sort of credibility.
The “prosecute the former regime at every level” candidate has my vote in 2028.
