I’m a teacher in Pilsen, and I live in Albany Park. On Friday, both my school community and the community I live in were under attack by ICE.

In both areas, through community action including parents, residents, and teachers, our students and parents remained safe.

When we fight, we win.

Uh, no. I'm making a linen shirt right now: It took a full 2 yards, and the fabric cost $40/yard. I was looking at a nice cotton shirting today, which is $55/yard. Good fabric is $$$

Every single time I see people saying “it’s a shame that you can’t do <blahblah> anymore,” I think, “We do that here in Chicago all the time!”

Whether it’s hanging out until the street lights come on, having neighbors who take care of each other, schools that are centers of community— it’s all here

I’m pretty far out on the radical left end, and I do not know *anyone* who is angry or resentful about 50501 and No Kings. On the contrary, we’re showing up at their events. We’re volunteering as marshals and medics. We’re happy to organize people who show up in those spaces.

Secondly, they didn’t even claim it is against the law. They said “It’s not safe.”

This is a direct threat, against a person who is doing nothing wrong, because they’re fucking Nazis.

I mean, there is the part where her “selling the news” ignores the facts in favor of the sales. That’s maybe not good, like, as journalism.

But you’re right, she’s a tremendous entrepreneur. Just, not one you can trust to report accurately, if that’s something you still care about in your news.

In terms of profitability, sure. But as I understand it, a lot of solar fields are owned by relatively small, local producers, including local utilities. The amount of capital, and thus the lobbying capacity, isn’t anywhere near what the carbon-fueled industries are rocking.

UPDATE: In emailed statement to me / @reason.com, DHS alleges that WGN-TV producer Debbie Brockman "threw objects at Border Patrol’s car and she was placed under arrest for assault on a federal law enforcement officer."
