tl;dr: the tentative Senate budget deal sucks.
The deal still needs a final vote to pass the Senate, and it must pass the House. There's still room here for course correction with heavy constituent pressure, but it's moving fast.

The President wouldn't last five minutes as an air traffic controller, and after everything they've been through - and the way this administration has treated them from Day One - he has no business shitting on them now.

I honestly didn't have Kelly on my radicalized Senator bingo card.
Mark Kelly notably declines to endorse Chuck Schumer as the leader of Senate Dems going forward

We invited Sam Westby, a local bikey instagrammer, along on our HONKoween #BikeBus parade, and he produced this nice reel that’s getting some exposure over there. www.instagram.com/reel/DQzVB2A...

Bam.
Say whatever you want about Mitch McConnell, but I can say with confidence that if the roles were reversed he wouldn’t budge an inch in the same position. Because he is actually competent at political maneuvering.

Last night sucked, but it is Monday, which means that phone lines are being monitored.
Yesterday’s vote was what is called “motion to proceed” and it was the vote with a 60 vote threshold. In the next couple days, maybe even today,

The corruption STINKS
Trump has threatened to bomb or invade 7 countries with a shot to play in the 2026 World Cup. He *has* bombed one (Iran) and said he'd deny them visas. He's preparing for war with another (Venezuela). He has summarily executed citizens from at least 3. He has imposed tariffs on nearly all of them.

Whew, I wonder what will happen when 30 January comes around
The problem isn't that they caved for a promised vote; the problem is that the vote will be a meaningless gesture impressing no one but Senate Democrats.
It will fail. ACA beneficiaries will suffer considerably as a result and there will be no consequences of any kind for Republicans.

Whoa -- Sen. Durbin went to up Leader Thune during the vote last night to tell him that on the shutdown vote and ACA promise that "8 of us are sticking our neck out that you're going to keep your word. I hope you will. He said 'I assure you I will,'" Durbin says just now

I got this useful bon mot from a middle school teacher recently.
In response to, “I DONT UNDERSTAND,” he calmly said, “okay what steps have you taken to understand?”
And that’s when I realized that a lot of folks have no steps.

Never ever say that your vote doesn’t matter; it absolutely does.
Seattle's Mayoral race (between a progressive and a centrist) may come down to a few dozen votes and is expected to be among the closest in Seattle's history
According to ex-mayor Greg Nickels, Seattle's mayoral election could be decided by 65 votes
Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell went to bed Thursday night with a comfortable lead. By Friday afternoon, that all changed. Katie Wilson has surged to within 4,300 votes.

I tracked American's HND-JFK premium economy to business upgrade offer every day for 4+ months.
Highest offer: $3,735
Lowest offer: $642
Average daily change: -$8
Highest spike: $1,105
Highest drop: -$1,573
I don't know what data drive these changes, but I saved $3,093 over the highest offer 💸

And the truly craziest thing abt this cave is that someone seeing the invasion of Chicago firsthand, Dick Durbin, doesn't understand this.
seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

So now my husband isn't going to retire. I hate Trump & GOP so much.

The job now is to build those underpinnings back (better, but at least back) before that happens
