Another problem is that the commuter rail can run hundreds of dollars, especially if you live far from Boston. If we want more people to take the train, it has to be affordable.
Many of these commutes would be dramatically faster/easier with modernized trains, but the t does not care about that. You should be happy with a slow diesel train that comes every hour or two!
