It took me all night to figure out how to do that. As much as I love the aesthetic of pixels, it is also a byproduct of a time when we had to be limited, and if I find it easier to paint whole maps instead then I should paint.

I spent ages (I've been working on this for a while before sharing any of it) trying to do sprites and tiles and while I like doing sprites and animation I quickly realized that tiles was another matter. It felt tedious and dull and eventually i said fuck it, hand-drawn maps.

That same drawing as before, only it's now hand-painted. The trees are individual. The grass is distinct and textured and the roads are worn. The house has a beautiful thatched roof. The lines look more organic.

So this is a thing I am playing around with. For now it mostly has native assets, it won't when I am finished (if I finish. I have a bad habit of not finishing things.)

The little guy is a homemade sprite, deliberately modelled to look more like old-school CRPG sprites like Darklands or Ultima. He is a bit wee. He is also some kind of anthro - modelled after a harlequin rabbit, his design is somewhere between "Funny Animal" and "Carl Barks style Dognose."

Stop making film tie-in covers! I will have five books in a series that are beautiful hand-drawn covers and then the first one will just be the film poster. IT DOESN'T MATCH THE REST OF THEM. Films are great this isn't trashing Cinema but books are more than just "branded merchandise."

Mind you I know nothing about Giancarlo Esposito personally. He seems fine. But even if he has some secret dark side I stand by it. Hell, even the Monster of Florence is an Italian more worthy than Columbus!

... probably do, then the soul would maintain some degree of continuity between the entity A destroyed at the transporter room, and entity B rebuilt planetside. So, good news, if you ever end up in a Star Trek universe you can probably use the Transporters without fear. Probably.

EDIT: a complication in this whole thing is that souls exist in Star Trek, otherwise things like the Traveler, Metron, all the various Energy Beings wouldn't really make sense because that's not how energy works. That's how magic works. But presumably, if souls exist in Star Trek and they ...

I think the problem is that any attempt to examine Tuvix or the Two Rikers brings us closer and closer to the horrifying realization that the Star Trek transporters are a silent holocaust machine and nobody in-universe realizes it.
