With Beast from the East at Bristol Independent Gaming just three weeks away and me starting from scratch to build a French force, I’m delighted with my group of French lancers to swell the ranks that arrived from Colonel Bills today. Their Preloved range is well worth checking out.
I recognise that battlefield. Watch out for that dug in tank.
Progress on my first French Napoleonics for “Beast from the East” at Bristol Independent Wargames in November. 4 more groups to do and a unit of Lancers coming from Colonel Bills. Nothing makes me more productive than a deadline. I sense I’m falling into a deep, cavernous rabbit hole.
I haven’t seen a reference to the sock monster in a very long time. Thanks for the laugh.
The Union’s 2nd New Hampshires ready for Steel Lard. They were unlikely to have worn Hardee hats. But the appearance on the battlefield in their light grey uniforms and red trims are a close enough match to cause ambiguity and confusion in the badly led and poorly trained Federal ranks.
Drove back up to Cheshire yesterday and consumed 3 episodes of the Sky News podcast “The Wargame”. It is breathtakingly jaw dropping. A stark listen.

On this day in 1941 a Heinkel 111 sank the SS Thistlegorm whilst it awaited entry into Suez Canal with supplies for the 8th Army. My son Rory and I dived it a few years back. The holds were full of trucks, Bren carriers, motorcycles and other equipment. Here is his video.

It is. Tigers & Steel Lard keep jumping into the mind though…
After taking a battering in the storms on Friday and Saturday, the weather is now set fair on the South West Coast Path. Making good progress having reached the 420 mile mark at Wembury, taking in all around the Plymouth Sound. Just the 200 to go.
Any railway model shops that sell “0” gauge will likely sell you what you are looking for.
I’ve worked in Chicago many times. I loved it. I once even found a downtown bar showing the Norwich v. Chelsea match early on a Saturday morning.

Spent the afternoon photographing the sale items…keep your eye out Sunday morning! #nerdlings #miniatures #wargaming
Thank you Scott. The time of my scenario is mid morning when the battle over Matthew Hill is about to erupt. Wheat’s Tigers have already gone in with their Bowie knives. Paul at Sabotag3d spotted the cannonball in his design research. I wanted it left out as it was probably too early in the battle.
The Stone House & water well just about ready for “Lincoln’s life or a Tiger’s death!” - Steel Lard next Saturday. I’ll hit the roof with a light grey dry brush. It served as a makeshift hospital during both 1st & 2nd Manassas. Bee hives and cart also from Sabotag3d.

No Steel Lard prep this weekend. Need to be made of steel instead. Back on the South West Coast Path in the war wagon. A wild authorised site on the Rame Peninsula with 50 knot gusts forecasted tomorrow and Saturday. A good job we booked.
Prep for Steel Lard - the non sexy stuff…
Yes. See that. Looks more streamlined and less “bits”.
Thank you Alex. Found it. They do a Lancashire version also.
What is it called. I can’t find it searching under Black Country board game.
Thank you. The name given to them by the great Stonewall…
An afternoon to myself. Footy. Norwich got a draw at the Britannia. Rugger- didn’t those Red Roses do a great job. Ryder cup - something satisfying about seeing the Yanks getting turned over (even though I normally hate golf); and the 14th Brooklyn getting prepped for Steel Lard!
It was. The English ladies got up front and personal with the Canadians. I sensed they treated it as a battle. Extremely good result.
Hi Simon. Whizz your details over to me.

Richard will sort it out.
