Tinkering around with the Krautcover A tale of Grimdark ground scatter purchased from Bristol Independent Gaming. I knocked up an ambush point for Infamy Infamy. I’d advise to take out bones & skulls you want to use and just dook them in some warm water to remove the soil stains.

Opening moves in my solo Infamy Infamy. Two standard forces from the main rule book. The Germanics with the early edge having ambushed the Roman auxiliaries and forced them to withdraw. The Legion, closed ranks, await the inevitable ferocious charge. Where is Titus Pullo when you need him?

Getting down the base colours on a group of Foundry Praetorian Guard. It’s pretty difficult not to get a reasonable result with these figures. I want to recreate Big Rich’s “No pain no grain” scenario from WSS107 using “Infamy Infamy”. Crusader gladiators coming up soon.

Enjoyed a superb weekend and learning experience at Bristol Independent Gaming, playing “Beast from the East”, a cleverly designed series of themed Sharp Practice games with challenging weather and ground conditions. Much gratitude to Phil & Jenny Turner for the terrific organisation.

My French about to start their rapid march down the M6 to conquer “The Beast from the East” tomorrow at Bristol Independent Gaming. Exactly 110 points as I’m flying solo. Looking forward to seeing you all. #Sharppractice #Spreadthelard

Super happy with these four figures from Colonel Bills. They make pretty good deployment points for Sharp Practice and will go straight into action at Beast from the East to be held at Bristol Independent Gaming next weekend. A very flexible use for Sabotag3d bases. @sabotag3d.bsky.social

With Beast from the East at Bristol Independent Gaming just three weeks away and me starting from scratch to build a French force, I’m delighted with my group of French lancers to swell the ranks that arrived from Colonel Bills today. Their Preloved range is well worth checking out.

Progress on my first French Napoleonics for “Beast from the East” at Bristol Independent Wargames in November. 4 more groups to do and a unit of Lancers coming from Colonel Bills. Nothing makes me more productive than a deadline. I sense I’m falling into a deep, cavernous rabbit hole.

The Union’s 2nd New Hampshires ready for Steel Lard. They were unlikely to have worn Hardee hats. But the appearance on the battlefield in their light grey uniforms and red trims are a close enough match to cause ambiguity and confusion in the badly led and poorly trained Federal ranks.

After taking a battering in the storms on Friday and Saturday, the weather is now set fair on the South West Coast Path. Making good progress having reached the 420 mile mark at Wembury, taking in all around the Plymouth Sound. Just the 200 to go.

The Stone House & water well just about ready for “Lincoln’s life or a Tiger’s death!” - Steel Lard next Saturday. I’ll hit the roof with a light grey dry brush. It served as a makeshift hospital during both 1st & 2nd Manassas. Bee hives and cart also from Sabotag3d. @sabotag3d.bsky.social

No Steel Lard prep this weekend. Need to be made of steel instead. Back on the South West Coast Path in the war wagon. A wild authorised site on the Rame Peninsula with 50 knot gusts forecasted tomorrow and Saturday. A good job we booked.

An afternoon to myself. Footy. Norwich got a draw at the Britannia. Rugger- didn’t those Red Roses do a great job. Ryder cup - something satisfying about seeing the Yanks getting turned over (even though I normally hate golf); and the 14th Brooklyn getting prepped for Steel Lard!

Early morning September sun and a windowsill make an ideal painting area. Working on these 1st Corps Early ACW Militia for Steel Lard. They’ll represent the 4th South Carolina that supported Wheat’s Tigers on Matthew Hill at the 1st Bull Run. I like the uniformed Airfix Confederates look to them.

Beware the bees! Steel Lard - Sheffield UK. 10th October 2025. More than just scatter terrain from that very nice man in Cannock. @sabotag3d.bsky.social #spreadthelard

Tickets are still available for Steel Lard, Saturday 10th October 2025. The venue is Patriot Games, Sheffield. It makes for an attractive weekend with Partizan 2 on over in Newark just over an hours drive away. Reply to me and I’ll pass you down the line to Richard.

Play tested my Steel Lard scenario “Lincoln’s life or a Tiger’s death” today with my son Rory. Recreating a specific event set during the 1st Bull Run. It proved invaluable and quite remarkable that Rory commanding the Confederate force, made similar decisions to the leaders on that actual day.

Played 2 games of the new “Ticket to Ride - Northern Lights”. Some nice new mechanics to create extra friction. Stations have gone. Bonus cards increased from 1 (Longest track) to 8 from which 4 are selected at random. Bonus train cards are available for building most of the grey coastal routes.

I managed to stay sober and sensible enough last night at Ebor Lard in order to put up this wallpaper mural into my son and daughter-in-law’s nursery this morning. Our first granddaughter is due at the end of November.
