Are Vancouverites VERY interested in the new austerity budget being proposed for Vancouver, and the implications for our values, our resiliency & quality of life, our reputation (and competitive advantage) as a leader in sustainability and climate action?

Well, I’ll be the 609th speaker to Council.

Thank you @jasonthorne.bsky.social for sharing the Guide!
The CMHC garden suite and multiplex design catalogue got a lot of well-deserved attention. The companion Material Guide by Ha/f Climate Design is equally impressive. It provides a life-cycle assessment of the cost and carbon of each choice of materials to inform low-cost, low-carbon, construction.

Few things did more critical damage to North American downtowns than the demolishing of old buildings to build massive expanses of surface parking, along with the widening of roads to create huge one-way “car sewers,” all based on the failed theory that surrendering to cars would “save Downtown.”

the future is car free
We want the future of cars – and the cars of the future – to be made in Europe.

So we are working hand in hand with industry to make this a reality.

Today, we held our third Strategic Dialogue with the automotive sector, and our Industrial Action Plan is already delivering results.

New urbanism works on paper: Not so much on the ground
For decades, North America’s suburbs have been defined by sprawl: wide roads, single-use zoning, and a built-in reliance on driving for even basic needs. In the 1980s and ’90s, a group of ...
