“this is the Alberta government saying that the rights of trans kids to receive lifesaving healthcare, go by their own pronouns at school or play on sport teams, don’t matter as much as Smith’s government’s right to dictate their lives.”

I feel sick.
"Whether it’s lies about the safety of puberty blockers or the competitive impact of allowing trans women to compete in women’s sports, the stances and statements Smith is repeatedly trotting out.... are at their best misleading and at their worst outright lies."

The Liberals financialized the CPP. In 1993, it still mostly invested in Canada and was not encouraged to chase risky international investments! I write about it in my latest book, Corporate Control.
"The Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), to which all working Canadians outside Quebec are subscribed, held $8 billion of Nvidia stock as its largest single equity holding. In fact, its eight largest stock holdings were all AI stocks."

Greaaaaat
While Canadian politicians are still caught up in their AI love affair, panic is rippling through the industry.

Tech expert @scanthehorizon.bsky.social writes that the AI bubble may be about to burst, with massively damaging consequences for Canadians.

At COP30 Canada just got awarded the fossil of the day — first time since 2014 (the harper years). Clear sign of how Carney’s pro fossil fuel agenda and backsliding on climate policy is being noticed internationally.

Canada actively supported the British war against the people of Kenya, supplying F-48 Sabre fighter jets and a host of military and police supports. A Winnipeg cop named John Timmerman tortured Kenyan prisoners in Nairobi earning the nickname "the Himmler of Kenya."

Medical institutions are silencing and even punishing staff for speaking up about Palestine, but health care workers told me doing so is their job: "Our basic oath is to protect life, and it’s not restricted to a certain geographic area [or] a certain population." Whenever I tell people I specialise in Caribbean slavery, there will always be someone who says “but it’s such an uncomfortable and heavy topic!”

Personally, the fact that thousands of UK adults are unaware of Britain’s role in the slave trade makes me feel uncomfortable.

How disappointing.
