Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?

I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

I saw a similar vid like this for the PSX version of Mortal Kombat Trilogy, except all you had to do was simply turn the timer off, load up a match and do absolutely nothing and it'd do just this as well. Not only were the tracks not sampled correctly, they apparently weren't even programmed to loop

By changing only a single byte in the code of Mario Paint, the music composer will not stop at the end of the song and instead continue to play the entire contents of the console's memory as music.

Krile is from FFV. Basically an animal whisperer. Gaia is from FFXIV but instead of being a part of the main story, she primarily exists in a side story.

FFXIV actually does have its own Krile by the exact same name, but much older and slightly shorter, being of the game's dwarf race

Most will tell you how they remember this Gundam from the Battle Assault series, but most probably don't know it's also from a Wing sidestory manga and was originally in The Battle Master II. Why it was inserted in a game full of UC suits, I don't know

Due to the unique way Super Mario Bros. stores its maps, its level designers were at the mercy of the decorative hills and bushes when placing bottomless pits. While the pits can be placed freely, the decorations are non-negotiable and dictate the level design.

Makes for a spicy narrative but that isn't really the case. They were already on their way out to discard the digitized sprite style as this game was in development at the same time as MK4 since everyone was going 3D. Mythologies was meant to be the tie-in game to the then-upcoming arcade release

In Yoshi's Island, a "tongue overflow" glitch exists whereby Yoshi's tongue is able to fly away and begin gaining infinite length, overwriting the game's memory. The tongue-based corruption can have any number of effects, including skipping to the credits and ending the game.
