Both chambers don’t have a choice optics wise, this Epstein vote will pass. The question is what are the consequences when he inevitably vetoes it. I’m not sure they could reach the veto proof threshold. What happens after the veto?

I’ve watched @radiofreetom.bsky.social fight this battle for weeks (months?) now. Can we just agree that democratic backsliding (towards fascism/authoritarianism) is a process, that we are farther along than five years ago, but not as far as some other places?? Binary thinking is just…just don’t 1/

A reasonable distinction. We're a country sliding into competitive authoritarianism, but as long as we're still freer than Greece was under the junta - and we are still freer than that - I'm with Tom Nichols on _Trump_, not (yet) the country as a whole, being fascist.
