Behold: the predictive power of spending in low turnout elections.

Opponents of Prop Q raised 63.62% of the money in the race.

Prop Q was opposed by 63.48% of Austin voters who turned out.
This how I feel as the creator of The Ro Khanna Cycle meme lol

A big part of the reason why the Democratic Congressional delegation is so old is that so many Democratic state legislators got their careers nipped in the bud in 2010 and 2014. Focusing on winning as many state legislative seats as possible is the real way to fix the gerontocracy problem, too.
I miss that Alamo Drafthouse so bad
Worth emphasizing that this was the backlash *before* the ACA cuts hit.
What we know, final edition of the night:
[Now in 3 parts]

—Prop 50 wins
—VA Dems flip Gov, LG, AG
—Dems gain leg seats in VA, NJ, & MS
—Dems defend NJ-Gov
—Dems win NJ+VA trifectas
—Mamdani wins
—PA Dems win state supreme court
—ME anti-mail voting measure loses
—GA Dems flip 2 statewide offices

really important element of this basically total victory is that it puts the fear of god in republican incumbents and may bring the redistricting push to a total halt
Affordability is *the* winning issue for Democrats in 2026.
We'll post a list sometime soon but in addition to all the D vs. R stories tonight, in basically every nonpartisan election in the country today, the more pro-housing candidate won.

Mamdani: "We can respond to oligarchy and authoritarianism with the strength it fears, not the appeasement it craves. After all, if anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him."

score one for "the pundits are projecting their own preoccupations onto the electorate"
Earle-Sears ran what felt like 12 billion ads about how much she hated trans kids and I didn’t hear a single pundit say she should stick to real issues that affect real people.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Democrat Abigail Spanberger wins Virginia governor’s race.
That’s true. Higher turnout though. I think Prop Q would be passing comfortably in a pres year. But point taken.
Really? My prediction is that it fails 58-42 but maybe I’ve been way too online for the campaign

Not even 45 minutes into election night and the Democrats have already won two statewide elections in Georgia.
