I like this trial!

Lead by David Cherney in Canada

Deliberately using a Flozin in T1DM
Everyone gets CGM
Everyone gets ketone monitoring

I first learned about diethylene glycol tox at one of my 1st ASN trips, a case conference led by the stellar duo Robert Narins & Dick Glassock. A US-based traveler bought a cough syrup abroad. Caution! But what I best remember about that day was the duo’s perfect blend of wisdom and sense of humor
Another diethylene glycol causing (so far 20) children’s deaths in India

Note these kind of (masala) cocktails are pretty useless - and should not be used by anyone

Doctors performing certain medical scans on patients taking GLP-1 receptor agonists like semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) may need to consider how the medications affect imaging.

Great read, thanks yall.

I’ve always been struck by how some folks have a lot of synthetic/hepatocellular dysfunction but little portal hypertension.. or vice versa.

Good argument that the relative contributions of each to MELD-Na might be actionable in this context..

Me too! It's crazy how heterogenous the phenotypes can be despite having the same pathophysiology. At least, as we currently understand it.
Bold much-needed perspective by @sarahsanghavi.bsky.social et al about revisiting TIPS in the context of kidney disease, particularly in some cases of #HRS at #Kidney360 journals.lww.com/kidney360/ab...

When asked by a denier about what proof I have that #UrineMicroscopy makes a difference (often w/a “I’ve been practicing 30 yrs without it”), my answer is that one cannot grasp the full extent of missed information by ignoring a tool when there’s lack of proficiency on how to properly use the tool

Improving biopsy adequacy rates is essential to improving patient care.

Random dude: “pee is gross”
Pee:
Strong signal for better kidney biopsy adequacy favoring 16G needle over 18G (w/ = complication rate) in pediatric pts 12-18 years-old, extending established norm 4 adults. Only 4 children <12, a smaller 18G needle is safer. #KidneyBiopsyAcademy @kidneycon.bsky.social @arkanalabs.bsky.social
