Finishing up a screenplay at Corvus this morning with the world’s best cortado in hand. #Film #WritingCommunity #ScriptSky

Listened to this during an especially busy season in DC and it was life changing! Excellent book to combat the grind and reasses your work ethic and priorities! And a fun read.

I assume this refers to your higher ups for sign off and not the rabid players who read everything including every book of “the lusty argonian maid” and expand on the lore

Books can do so many things visual media can't and should absolutely always take advantage of that. If it could be easily translated into a movie/show, why write a book about it? (I feel the same about animation. If it could easily be live action, you're not having enough fun with the medium!)

Today in an episode of ‘kill your darlings’ I present a wonderful sentence that I love which the scene does not need at all:

“Their strange, beleaguered dialogue pressed forward with halting slowness.”

My guilty pleasure is to listen to this insane 2.5hr documentary about the cities of Ur and Uruk once a year.

It gives such a perfect encapsulation of the impassable rift of deep time between modern and ancient humans

I wonder if that will open the door to the more radio-drama-esque renditions with sound effects and music with the evolving medium, I was just listening to a writing excuses episode about the fuzzy boundary between them all and whether things are shifting or a few companies are innovating

@aptshadow.bsky.social when Bear Head got a multi voice-actor cast for the audiobook (and dogs of war too!), was that something you specifically asked for or something the publisher was trying out for multi-POV that landed in your lap?

When #AmWriting I lean into the 80/20 rule. Give enough description that 80% of above-average readers will follow everything.

And occasionally, dip your toes into the inverse 20/80, and make them figure it out.

Ok but the vfx intensive masterpiece of future history about the end of the world was unbeatable. I watch that one every couple of months and still catch new stuff.

Annoyed that my total social media use for the day was: 15min on bluesky + 8min on Instagram, TOTAL and I still don’t have enough time in the day to finish the things I set out to do. It’s UNFAIR

I know and so much advice is characters first! I’ve had agents tell me my work feels characters driven with deep character work so I don’t feel like my approach is an issue, and I save time! No one is extraneous, everyone serves a role in the plot!

Oh I love this question!
I come from a concept/theme side, so I’m always building the world first and then crafting characters that exemplify the values I want to put at odds. Nuance comes in revisions, but my themes are always strong.

Q1: Do you typically create characters to match the story you want to tell or build your stories based on character(s) already living in your head? #WeeknightWriters

I may just become an expert at query letter writing and critique right around the time that it will no longer be useful, (atleast not for a while) haha

The future of EDGE OF EDEN is defined by augmentation, both biological and technological that have expanded the bounds and definition of what it means to be human. Some of it serves of a function, some is cosmetic, all of it is about discovering what skin fits you best. #Pantropy
