I’m signed up for the @writingdaywksp.bsky.social Seattle writers conference in May! Love the scifi representation among the agents!

I went once a few years ago and it was life changing, really spectacular for a single day event. It’s worth it, I’m flying out for it!

Update: the first draft is finished! A wild ride of 3 months, perhaps the fastest I’ve finished a draft.

As I write the epilogue to my fun space opera book about terraforming gone wrong, I return to the tried and true music track that I’ve probably listened to 100 times over the course of crafting this story~

I think my favorite thing about Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is the relationship between Odo & Quark. Like they fight all the time but they enjoy it. You know if one of them left the station, the other would be totally lost.

Reading The Count Of Monte Cristo and there’s a line that goes:

“the expression on Signor Pastrini’s face… would be impossible to describe”

And apparently the greats can get away with anything 😆

My first time diving into a sequel as part of a planned trilogy and it is so difficult to wrap my head around 😵‍💫 so far I’ve got a list of ‘unresolved conflicts’ and the starting conditions for each character.

I just hope I can match the tension and twists of the first book 🚀

“…as a writer you don’t have to explain everything—you don’t have to recruit your character’s feelings and line them up across from your character’s actions, with the black-and-white symmetry of a chess game.”

-Karen Russell

Read this for a writing workshop and it really spoke to me 🧵

While it was still sort of nice out, we took Fig to wash park for her first time—needless to say she was overstimulated by the smells and the people and the squirrels.

A good breather from writing to reset and digest the fresh outlines before I dive in.

Berkey, along with Burns, Foss, Harris, Whelan and Mead defined sci-fi art for me growing up.

Continuing to fill out my character chart for PlanetSide 🪐 even as I hit 57k words on the manuscript itself.

All these insights in how characters are similar or different, how they see each other and why they butt heads, I’ll need l for the sequels~

Blueskis, studies have shown that when folks see or hear about a book more than five times, they are likely to check it out, and buy it.

So in the spirit of creating buzz, here is the gorgeous cover of THE WESTERNERS, which will be published on March 31!

Just finished book one and started the series (just bought book two in hardcover but I will be getting the paperback when it comes out in August)

The hype is REAL. This was so much fun, so honestly thrilling and twisty it was everything I wanted and more
