It's petty. He's engaging in schadenfreude over what he half-assedly believes is the view of the American public. The "totally disappeared"line is intended to demoralize those who believe Ukraine has the right to self defense against an expansionist capitalist imperialist autocracy.

Bessner probably uses some google tool to determine this which is not analysis. He's obsessed with ngram, and probably google trends. I think attention to a given subject or crisis varies and is partly based on competition with other crises in our limited attention. It doesn't prove no one cares.

And in the first rt, it's not that I deny there is forced conscription in Ukraine. It's the way the Gaza genocide is equated to NATO giving Ukraine weapons to defend against a brutal Russian invasion. This is ultimately a position that white washes, and is therefore in favor of Putin's imperialism.
