Could be wrong, but the #AvengersDoomsdayTrailer everyone seems to think is real feels like bullshit to me. Had an AI quality to the character's face, I felt. Also the "...will return..." line has never been used in marketing, the character choice doesn't make sense to intro the film to casual fans.

I just read the new SPINAL TAP book and there’s a moment where Rob Reiner and the rest of the cast ask each other which projects will lead their obituary. Rob was sure “Meathead” was going to be the first line of his.

Tonight, everyone’s teeing off with “one of the greatest directing runs ever”

I am so sad about Rob Reiner and his wife Michele. It's shocking. I've loved Reiner's work my whole life. All In the Family was a staple in my living room. Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, countless other films, brought me so much joy. It's so tragic.

I was lucky enough to see the first six episodes of #StarTrekStarfleetAcademy, and it might be my favorite new #StarTrek show yet. Since it's titled #StarfleetAcademy, it's no surprise its mostly about students learning things. Still, it's a sweet, dynamic, and wonderful show.

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.

This is my favorite Frankenstein adaptation. (Sorry GDT.)

When it comes to political thrillers, people expect a certain kind of story and approach to the characters who inhabit its world. #TheCrown avoids almost every one of them, and it takes a shockingly different approach. I talk about why it still works.
9 Years Later, Netflix’s 92% RT Political Thriller Still Has No Equal
Big, expensive fantasy shows like Andor or House of the Dragon are basically political thrillers but Netflix's based-on-real-life series stands apart.

Focusing on one of the most celebrated and, arguably, misunderstood scenes in the #Watchmen movie, I look at how the legacy of the Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons masterpiece only elevates a kind of thematic dilemma posed by every version of this story.
This Chilling Watchmen Quote Is Still Untouchable
While there are many iconic lines from Watchmen, there is one quote that stands above the others as both a cool moment and chilling revelation.

Making a TV show or movie is really difficult, and as a critic I can recognize that there's always some element that some segment of the audience might like. But looking back at this #Marvel-adjacent TV series, I couldn't find any redeeming qualities.
28 Years Later, And Fans Still Consider This Forgotten Live-Action Comic Adaptation One of the Worst
The last gasp of Malibu Comics' Ultraverse centered on a forgettable character in one of the most poorly executed comic book adaptations ever.

Setting aside the #WarnerBros fire-sale going on right now, a recent #DCU leak left me concerned about the future of the #DCUniverse James Gunn is trying to build. I take a look at the choices #DCStudios are making, and the need to control the leaks.
James Gunn Greenlighting This Show Has Made Me Nervous About the DCU's Future
The latest leaks from DC Studios were addressed by James Gunn, but they speak to a larger issue with the DCU's future that could spell trouble for it.

It's been 20 years since the #VforVendetta movie, and one of the best film-only quotes is as relevant as ever. I run down what you need to know about how the movie differed from the graphic novel, and why that's not necessarily a bad thing. #DCComics
20 Years Later, V For Vendetta's Most Fiery Quote Feels More Impactful Than Ever
While the book is an iconic graphic novel, the V for Vendetta film is equally powerful as evidenced by its most fiery quote's relevance today.

@jeffpearlman.bsky.social Hey we were mutuals in the Twitter days when I was a reporter. Just wanted to write where you might see it that I really appreciated what you said about Smith's comments inre: illegal orders. As a war vet, I don't mind civilian opinions, but as you said be informed first.

Have the "he's a collaborator now!" discourse contrarians already started up? That was fast.
Mamdani doing his job. What's the problem? He's advocating for his city. If that means he has to pick the tiger's teeth, then you do that. I don't see the issue.

What's the over/under on how soon Trump goes back to calling NY (and any other city) a crime-ridden shithole? I'm thinking by Monday.
Reporter to Trump: Would you feel comfortable living in NYC under a Mamdani mayoralty?

Trump: "I would. I really would. Especially after the meeting, absolutely."

It doesn't matter if he had a friendly meeting with Mamdani. He's had friendly meetings with Obama, Biden, Harris, Comey, and a ton of other people that he hates. It. Doesn't. Matter.

My takeaway from the #Trump and #ZohranMamdani meeting: a typical photo op that has no real importance. Anyone talking about who "won"/"lost" in this pointless exercise is about as credible as those award-show "body language experts." It's only value is as a distraction from things that do matter.
