One of my favourite articles I’ve written.

I ADORED Ryan Coogler’s #Sinners and for @digitalspy.com, I took a look at how Coogler used the vampire genre to explore Black history and the blues.

Warning: spoilers ahead!

Sinners might have been 'spoiled' in its trailers – but it's so much more than a vampire movie

Good! Not everything needs to be a live action remake for pure cash grab sake. Put some respect on animation and the expressive medium that it is.

‘KPOP DEMON HUNTERS’ creator Maggie Kang says she doesn’t think a live-action remake would work.

“There’s so many elements of the tone and the comedy that are so suited for animation”

Another #LFF highlight of the day - seeing the lovely Tessa Thompson for her screen talk. Great to hear her talk through her career and of course, working with Nia DaCosta.

A film so emotionally devastating that I sat in my seat long after the credits finished rolling. Chloé Zhao won my heart with this one. A beautiful film. #Hamnet #LFF

A mad dash across London but now seated for film 12 of #LFF. Now watching #Hamnet

I like to think that when Del Toro cooks, the world is a much happier place. This is a director at the top of his game with outstanding performances by Isaac and Elordi. One of the best from the festival. Cinema. #Frankenstein #LFF

Film 11 of #LFF. It’s the BIG one. Guillermo Del Toro’s #Frankenstein.

Film 10 of #LFF went to #JayKelly. Hollywood loves stories about itself and while it is very easy to be cynical about this, I genuinely felt its heart was in the right place with its sentimental look at movie stardom and the price of love. Clooney is charming, but Sandler is the standout.

Dear Nia and Tessa, keep making movies together. That was fabulous. Full review coming soon for @moviemarker.bsky.social. #Hedda.

As someone who has taught young people, the number of safeguarding issues within this movie was something else. A muddled mess of a movie #AfterTheHunt

Another #LFF highlight. @katiesmithwong.bsky.social and I went to see the wizard aka the John M. Chu screen talk. As an LFF veteran, this was one of the best screen talks I’ve been to. We got treated to a snippet of #WickedForGood and ended the day with a selfie with the director himself.

Right up my street. Weird, crazy, dark, twisted, funny and shocking, the trifecta of Lanthimos, Stone and Plemons does it again. Not my favourite Yorgos film (my 3rd favourite after The Favourite and Poor Things) but this was a much better effort from the director after Kinds of Kindness. #Bugonia

So highlight of the day at #LFF was the Rian Johnson screen talk on the art of whodunnit. Loved hearing about his love of murder mysteries and how they influenced Knives Out. One of those conversations I could listen to all day.

So the surprise film was #Tuner starring Leo Goodall and Dustin Hoffman. A solid film overall, but as the surprise film, I can’t help but feel underwhelmed.

Will admit though, considering the amount of guesses circulating for the surprise film, I guarantee no one predicted this.

Film 5 of #LFF. The surprise film 👀. Praying for a good one…
