This crazy watercolour and ink sketch was done in the Mary Challis garden in Sawston near Cambridge. I was working at speed because it started to rain. I rather like the frenetic effect and it's all the better for not having been tarted up later.

This has happened to me too on quite a few occasions. We all have distinct tastes in books. In addition, if you read more widely than the average person, you will probably be aware of better books that never received the acclaim or did so many decades ago but are forgotten now.
