I completely agree and this is a great point, but I have to admit it's pretty frustrating when I *was* that youtuber and people levy that complaint. I've been told I only hate FF13 because of youtubers but it was ME! I WAS THE ONE WHO HATED IT SO HARD PEOPLE LATCHED ON
My even more unpopular opinion is unless you have personally experienced the thing, you should probably refrain from having an opinion on it.
We need to return to shaming people for parroting YouTube/TikTok with stuff like "When I want your opinion, I'll just find the YouTuber who gave it to you."

Thinking about this since posting and I came to the conclusion a big part of this is aggressive incuriosity. People don't wanna think about shit more than they "have" to, so they frame this as a failure of the work instead of their person. Fucking frustrating bullshit!!
One type of person I'm always baffled by is the folks who get annoyed at the idea of media being recognizable in its influences? I remember meeting someone who completely brushed off Signalis because the gameplay looked "too much" like classic RE.
