Im not sure how one tackles this. Twiddling our fingers on Bluesky certainly isn't it.

NYC's incoming mayor Zohran Mamdani just named trans rabbi Abby Stein to his transition team - and right-wingers are having a full-blown meltdown about it. A Jewish transwoman and a Muslim working together. I think this is wonderful.

One of the new rules of politics is that if Andrew Neil is emotionally involved in an argument, adopt the opposite viewpoint.

having got to episode 6 of Anthology, it's quite a thing, isn't it? It's not just remastered and remixed, but almost a new documentary - telling the same story with different takes, different editing style. A more watchable thing, even if it loses the odd regrettable bit.

'We have a historically high proportion of working-age people not actually working.' No we don't.

Over 400 economists came out before the election saying Trump’s plan would have negative effects on the economy. We are seeing that now. 😡

If Musk put his money into a basic UK savings account paying 4%, this is the interest he would earn:

Per year: £14.4 billion
Per day: £39.45 million
Per hour: £1.64 million

Just the interest = 370,000 average UK earners.

And he doesn't work interest.

And he wants to pay less tax.
It’s hard to imagine the vast fortune that is Elon’s net worth currently estimated at $476.4billion or £360billion. If it helps, someone on an average salary who wanted to save up this much would have to had started saving in the Miocene epoch 12 million years ago. (assuming they saved every penny)

Length of trials is also an issue.
Juries are slow and costly. And juries can lead to retrial if they don't follow rules.

Many countries don't have use a jury system (including many in Europe, e.g. Spain, Germany), although they often have lay judges for some cases. I don't think there's any reason to think they are less just countries!
