90% of bad takes out there were already litigated on Tumblr 13 years ago and caused someone to delete their account for the third time rather than face continued mockery. We actually live in an online world that’s more or less a Tumblr cargo cult run by people who learned to read by 3 cueing.

If Stephen Miller, a creepy little unlikeable goblin whose sadistic streak is only matched by his continual humiliation in his personal life, is the vanguard of western culture, I fear I must be incompatible with that.
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

Honestly you're not a real Marxist and are just an unserious Puritan if you think that it's revolutionary to ask people to work for you for free in a system where that "for free" doesn't come with a UBI or free food, housing, and healthcare for the worker

I can’t believe such a bad take exists out in the world. (The referenced claim, not this author.) Writing a book is a job. Don’t accept zero pay for a job. That’s the real exploitative thing.
Just saw someone claim that authors who want to be paid for their work are "class traitors" because we "only let the wealthy" read our books, and I think I need to go into the woods to scream into the night for a bit.

It's $5, not your first-born child! I need that $5 for health insurance!

Sean Duffy, the U.S. transportation secretary, has been urging people for the past week to dress and comport themselves better as a way of restoring “civility” to air travel. On Tuesday, he added another item to his list of concerns: the quality of the snacks handed out on commercial flights.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy Wants Healthier In-Flight Snack Options
Sean Duffy, who has been promoting greater decorum among air travelers, said he would like to see choices besides salty pretzels and buttery cookies.

I know this isn’t the case, but every time I see something about 67 I think The Youths are using us as the frick/frig equivalent of 69. Unfortunately, I am too old to be convinced otherwise despite all evidence.

i think this is a very clear limitation of schumer's convivial caucus management style, only using honey is good when you need to get someone to vote for something, but it is not nearly as as effective as getting someone to not doing somethig

Don’t give the democrats another time and vote against them in every primary if they vote for this. Time to clean the Augean stables of these crusty horse apples.

Yes, of course we don’t allocate jobs among humans based on relative need, god knows, but all humans do share a fundamental requirement of “needing to purchase food and shelter to stay alive,” whereas all LLMs/Gen AI tools as a category do not face this hard imperative.

This looks like a concentration camp.
Under Trump, the draconian future of homelessness policy is coming into focus: mass internment. Utah is building a 16-acre site to detain up to 1,300 homeless people inside locked "accountability centers." This is profoundly alarming.
