If Stephen Miller, a creepy little unlikeable goblin whose sadistic streak is only matched by his continual humiliation in his personal life, is the vanguard of western culture, I fear I must be incompatible with that.

Honestly you're not a real Marxist and are just an unserious Puritan if you think that it's revolutionary to ask people to work for you for free in a system where that "for free" doesn't come with a UBI or free food, housing, and healthcare for the worker

I can’t believe such a bad take exists out in the world. (The referenced claim, not this author.) Writing a book is a job. Don’t accept zero pay for a job. That’s the real exploitative thing.
Just saw someone claim that authors who want to be paid for their work are "class traitors" because we "only let the wealthy" read our books, and I think I need to go into the woods to scream into the night for a bit.

Yes, of course we don’t allocate jobs among humans based on relative need, god knows, but all humans do share a fundamental requirement of “needing to purchase food and shelter to stay alive,” whereas all LLMs/Gen AI tools as a category do not face this hard imperative.
