Cinderella WIP - pink 💕

I stood and looked at myself one last time. Tonight’s outfit was Barbie pink. from my shoulders to my toes. I was padded to high heaven which gave me luscious curves. I was ready to perform. I had been working on singing live more often rather than lip syncing. I thought I had a decent voice, so why not?

No hibernation, just that time Shallot woke up after almost collapsing the night before. She doesn't remember going to sleep and wondered if her boys carried her to bed.

Shallot awoke in her own bed while ominous organ music played from the common room. The last thing she remembered was holding Iom’ren in the chair by the fireplace. She had stayed awake so long, it was no surprise that she’d fallen asleep, but she hadn’t expected to wake up in her own bed. Had the boys carried her in here? She might have once thought they were too weak to carry her large frame, but they had managed to haul Old Man Egg back to the inn with minimal difficulty. When she had arrived back at the inn last night, the boys and Parsnips had gotten Egg stabilized and bandaged. The slash across his back had been thankfully shallow and had missed his spine.
What time was it? Was Egg still at the inn? And who the hell was playing the organ?
Shallot was still in her clothes, aside from the suspenders and bow tie, both of which had been laid on her cabinet. Her key rings were missing from the bowl they usually laid in at night. A vase of glowlight flowers attempted to illuminate the room, but they were almost dead. Next to them, a candle lit by Grilled’s wrist flickered shades of light green and white. The boys had probably carried her to bed. She only hoped they weren’t in possession of the key rings.

I don't think any of my characters tend to sleep well or would have what is considered a healthy sleep schedule. Gretchen in my Uncanny Encounters Series tends to get very focused on her work to the exclusion of eating or sleeping.

His eyes settled, half-lidded in defeat, between the paper & the door. At her approach, they wordlessly flicked to her.
Each step was careful, breath measured, as though anticipating him to be more hibernating bear than man.

She could have sworn even the usually flaxen hay bleached to gray & the lingering perfume of sweetness & horse quickly turned sour & muddy in her fellow knight’s presence. The tranquil stalls around them suddenly echoed with whinnying protests & pawing hooves.

Writing Art & Robyn in A Dance of Bow & Blade is so much fun! The banter, sword fights, sweet moments along with more flirty moments! They're a bit of a balancing act coming from two different sides of the world they occupy, & despite the clash that brings, they wind up fitting together nicely!

Robyn's red hair is pulled back into a ponytail as she rests her head on Art's shoulder. She's wearing a green shirt and pants and brown boots. A green cloak is wrapped around both their shoulders.

Robyn's breath tickled her neck with a light snore. Art shifted, her eyes on her as though she were a constellation, her arm wrapping around her.
The weight of Robyn, the cloak over them both, Not-So's trust alleviated those past and present scars.
Art rested her head against Robyn's.

I have a million favorites for both Lawcket & Rider. They depend on what I've read most recently, & my mood.
I guess I'll have to go with Jewel. I have a few favorites for him too, but this is 1 of them.

It was as though he felt a hand pressed lightly into his shoulder. “Jewel,” never had Ilivan's voice been more serious, more grave, “I give you everything I am, everything I have, my blood and my life to be yours, to be joined with yours– but in so doing I must leave you. I die– farewell for now,” a pause, and then one last breath. “Soon–” Ilivan said, as though a promise that the farewell was not for long. “Remember, you are never alone.”
Could Jewel believe him now? Was he really never alone?
“Noo . . .” Jewel felt himself cry in despair as Ilivan's life flowed into him, as it should have so long ago had things worked how Jewel had intended them to, and Ilivan's presence faded away into the endless abyss. Ilivan's ever present voice gone completely, leaving him utterly alone, more alone than he could ever have been if he had not become so accustomed to the comfort of Ilivan's certain presence.
At that moment Jewel would have given anything in the entire world to have that presence back– and yet it was too late. He was alone.
Despair so great had never touched his heart. Loss as endless as the abyss called out to him, wishing to embrace him in arms of darkness, and how could he resist.
Ilivan, I love you–
The realization that he had never said his heart's last thought to Ilivan while they lived together stung like a spark alight in the darkness of despair. You have to know, you have to know I've said it now, now that you've left me.

In A Dance of Bow & Blade, Robyn & Art wind up falling for each other in the story. Before the start of the book, Robyn had at least one not serious fling that is mentioned and Art had her heart broken.

Duels of Blood (and the dreaded dream sequences we're not supposed to write 😈)

“Why are you in my dream?” Daisuke asked; the spirit of war never invaded these visions.
“Frankly, I’m not quite sure,” he answered lazily, blowing a perfect ring of smoke toward the moon. “I was resting in the Between Realm with Jihuang, then suddenly I was waiting for you here—I assumed you’d summoned me. Since I know you’re dying to ask how, I’m not sure of that, either, but it must have something to do with the blood-bond we share. This place is wrought with your spiritual energy.”
As if making the demon’s point, ribbons of blue and purple crackled along the water’s surface before fading away once more.
“Unlike with your solstice prayer, we don’t need to worry about my other siblings finding me here, and because of their current blood-bond, it seems they can’t quite see into the Between Realm properly. There’s a haze surrounding their palaces still.”
