Standing up to a tyrant - who is willing to impose pain as leverage to compel loyalty or acquiescence - is hard. You can convince yourself that yielding stops the pain and brings you back to "normal".

But there is no "normal". Submission emboldens the tyrant. The threat grows.

It looks like some journalists at BBC are beginning to exit their slumbers... ...perhaps a little late.
Can check on their progress by clocking Reform/Fartage airtime vs that of others others...

I have to say I'm listening less & less to #r4today. They've gone to tabloid, they could've done a bit of a deep dive on prisons & problems. But we've a presenter who knows nothing berating a junior minister who knows nothing. I can get all the ill informed BS I need on SM I expect more from #BBC.

Why is #r4today using Trump's language of "radical left wing" democrat to describe Mamdani.

He calls himself a "democratic socialist", why is that not the description used on the BBC?

Good point from @adambienkov.bsky.social - if the massed ranks of the right wing press with BBC boosting, plus the vast amount of money (and foreign social media bots) couldn’t get Reform over the line, what will?

Am a fan of #R4PM but this conversation on 'anger' is annoying!
Not difficult to derive the sources of anger in the UK (mostly austerity and news/social media 'othering'), but instead of investigating the political & economic backdrop the show considers 'anger' as if it emerges from a vacuum.

Again, I really do have concerns about exactly how Justin Webb is acquiring his knowledge of US politics or what prompted him to make this exact point.
Justin Webb just referred on Today to "platforms like Bluesky, where you can see the celebration of the killing" of Charlie Kirk.

What I'm seeing on here is overwhelming condemnation; despair at the violence of US politics; alarm at where this might go; & calls for equal horror at other shootings.

A year after people of colour, Muslims and migrants were terrorised on our streets by the far-right, there is now yet another surge of racist violence.

We need to see our Prime Minister condemn the hate and proudly lead an anti-racist government, not pave the way for Reform.
