His deals aren't worth the paper they're printed on but world leaders have little choice but to pursue them. Another example of how completely he has destroyed the network of obligation that holds everything together.

Michael Prescott’s report edits Trump’s quote *at least* as badly as Panorama did (I’d argue worse). And that misleading edit is now very obviously at the core of a $5 billion lawsuit against the corporation.

The Panorama had been online, without complaint, for a year before that dossier.

Dear God. Even now he’s dead Rob Reiner continues to show us exactly who Trump is.

dear fucking God the utterly appalling response from Trump to the Reiners' deaths. A couple has died, probably violently, leaving behind grieving, horrified family, friends, colleagues, and that's what he posts?? Absolute psychopath.

The fact is no presenter has ever had to leave the BBC for expressing conservative views, or even explicitly endorsing a right-wing party.

Was never a problem for Jeremy Clarkson. Was never a problem for Andrew Neil. Was never a problem for Alan Sugar
Robin Ince reveals to last night’s audience at a recording of Infinite Monkey Cage that the BBC has forced him to resign over his support of trans people

Compare and contrast with the BBC's rebuffing of complaints about Andrew Neil's social media posts, claiming that they're OK as he's freelance rather than staff.
Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

#bbcpm Labour could have gone into the next election saying "Farridge and the Tories want to take away your human rights", but now they can't. Once again Starmer abandons the moral high ground to appease the far right.

Thanks for all the excellent responses to this. It might make you smile on this dreich day.
Thank you to the lovely audience member at @hayfestival who shared that her daughter had once corrected her pronunciation of ‘epiphany’ and told her it should of course be ‘epi-fanny’.

Which word have you royally mispronounced because you’d only ever seen it written down?

I wonder how the USA would react if the EU released a policy document outlining a strategy to get liberal states (e.g. California) to secede from the union, with the explicit aim of making the USA weaker.

"Pull away" then hand over to Putin, no doubt. I assume the other 3 are the Baltic states.
Fuller version of Trump security strategy reportedly calls for “pulling Poland away from EU”

A longer, unpublished version of the Trump administration’s National Security Strategy identifies Poland as one of four countries the US should try to “pull away” from the EU.

I'm reminded today that those who opine with great confidence on subjects about which they know little are not to be trusted when they opine on things they're supposed to know about.

#bbcpm Can we stop talking about the president of the USA as if he's a difficult child who needs careful handling to avoid a tantrum. He's in a grown up job and should be treated as such.

#bbcpm European countries' immigration policies are nothing to do with the USA. As are their choices of mayors.

And why didn't the interviewer point out that much of what Trump said was lies?

And when they apologise for Thatcher's gutting of the apprenticeship levy system.
Also when they explain which businesses are going to offer these apprenticeships and how they're going to improve the high drop-out rate and poor quality of many of them.
Badenoch says the Conservatives would want fewer “low value degrees” and many more apprenticeships. As ever with such announcements I will perhaps take it more seriously when the kids of government ministers and MPs are routinely doing apprenticeships and not degrees.
