A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

Did you know you can be a multiple issue person, but that some issues are completely disqualifying? Human rights are not up for debate and yes that's disqualifying if you want to be president and you don't agree with that

Are you a one issue person?
jillianw.bsky.social
There are other issues, but my bare minimum is the survival of my community. If Newsom or any other Dems don't want that, they don't want my support and I'll respond accordingly.

Diane's one issue is trolling trans people with this same reply whenever they criticize St Gavin The Immaculate.
On a trans flag background:

There is no larger issue for me

participate in society as my
authentic self. If that's a
purity test, then so be it.

The season evolved from "ha ha Cubs-Mariners World Series how silly" to "holy shit Cubs-Mariners World Series might actually happen" and now to "well shit."

A Pilots-Mariners World Series would be cool though.

And according to my Most Accurate Watch in the World, it's still Never Too Late O'clock.

Both paths are valid.

It was contingent on the feelings of one person.

Anne and I exchanged war stories and virtual hugs during our divorces, which happened at the same time. Mine was rough. Anne's was off the scale.

By autumn 2019, I was out everywhere except work. I'd planned on National Coming Out day, but for various reasons I delayed for a week.

So that's yet another Jillian/Anne parallel - out at work within five days of each other!

Can you have loss if you come out? Yes. I lost a spouse and more. But I gained so much, it exceeds and eclipses. I have grown. I have love again and many more friends. I have community.

I will no longer die a lonely old man asking "what if."

I have nearly always jumped against odds and done well.

Once you take the first steps, the courage feeds on itself. Coming out can change you, more than you might expect.

I was told by my ex even a few years ago that it was not a good atmosphere to be coming out.

It wasn't a choice, like wearing a bow tie. I'm me, I must live my life as my true self. I was afraid but I drove forward, as I had turned back too often and that hurt more.

I am out, free, me. Happiness.
