Psst...it's because ICE are sissy scaredy-cats, and they prefer easy pickings. Kids, parents, and grandparents are easy pickings.

I don't think it's cowardice. I think that they are OK with what the GOP is doing. The sooner folks reconcile with this, the better.

Any Democrat in Congress who would accept a promise from a Republican in Congress should undergo a cognitive test.

I will admit that this is the single funniest outcome of us doing a Keep Politics Out Of Sports after a guy kneeled
Government is shut down. Chaos in airports. 42 million going hungry. 24 million face skyrocketing healthcare costs. Economy in turmoil. And the president of the United States is in the Fox broadcast booth calling plays for a football game.

This really is curious. Retiring sens who have no political skin in the game drawing their colleagues into a deal that will make the base furious

Rafael Veraza was trying to leave a Sam’s Club parking lot when a federal agent drove alongside a line of cars, spraying chemical irritants occupants of the vehicles through open windows — including his 1-year-old daughter, Ariana.

Pretty please let us violently assault protesters, journalists, and clergy. Don’t take away one of our favorite activities.
JUST IN: The Justice Department formally appeals U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis' preliminary injunction, which restricts the use of force against protesters and journalists.
Can't even leave a message at Fetterman's office.

Agree with this.

About to publish something on the airplane mess. But this too is ON THE REPUBS. It is not a reason to cave. Dems, it is a time to keep standing up.
Opening the government with no concessions from GOP merely to alleviate airline cancellations - when Congress has been dragging its feet for years on chronic FAA staffing issues - is a lame ass choice.

Also, doing it while the House refuses to work is appalling.
They said same thing a week ago.

Republicans have chosen the files. I am choosing the food. End the shutdown.

Two months ago, before Bovino arrived and the Broadview ICE facility was transformed into an impenetrable fortress, regular people were out there every single day for weeks telling feds to get out. We think about this day a lot.
Since we've been out here observing, this small and growing group of neighbors (no organized protest planned today) have been repeatedly facing off with agents.

Remember this godforsaken story the next time the police or their fanbase whine about limits on vehicle pursuits
Last night in Tampa, cops used a controversial and risky technique called a PIT maneuver while chasing a driver who'd sped away from a street race

The PIT maneuver failed. The driver sped away, losing control, and crashing into an LGBTQ+ bar killing 4 people and injuring 13
4 dead, 13 injured after Florida police chase ends with suspect crashing into popular LGBTQ bar
More than a dozen people were standing outside Bradley's, a popular LGBTQ bar, when the car crashed into them after a police chase.

Did Washington DC ever get the funding that got slashed in the last CR? When Mike Johnson promised a vote to restore it "later"?
Getting a deal where you are promised a future vote that might not pass the Senate let alone the House is a chump move.

Thinking about when Willie Wilson said police “should be able to chase them [anyone who runs from police] down, and hunt them down like a rabbit,” and Paul Vallas wanted to “take the handcuffs off police.”

Everyone’s getting to see what that looks like in practice now & they don’t seem to like it.

BREAKING: Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz have been indicted by prosecutors in Brooklyn on a host of charges related to a scheme to rig bets on pitches thrown in MLB games. Ortiz was arrested in Boston earlier today. Clase is not currently in custody.

Regular reminder that Axios stories saying Dems are about to cave are likely sourced from GOP staffers trying to make it happen.
Doesn't mean it definitely won't happen. But it's like those NYT stories that Harvard is considering caving (they haven't). The anonymous source was trying to manifest it.

The sports leagues sent a clear message for decades that gambling was bad for them, then suddenly declared that it was good for them. You could see why the players might think it was good for them too.
They ran a similar story a week ago.

I asked Georgetown law prof David Super wtf is going on with this latest demand for states to claw back benefits already sent out.
He says the law doesn't allow for this, and if the USDA is mad that states already sent out SNAP money, too bad—they were following USDA's own guidance. Full comments:
