It's crazy how GTA6 will likely STILL have you mashing X/A to sprint, and will likely still have a cover system that is bested by titles from 2006.

Even simply aiming your gun feels imprecise. I don't think there's a single mechanical aspect of GTA5 that didn't feel dated even back in 2013.

As far as relatively modern, non-shovelware games go, Devil May Cry 2 is a pretty solid answer.

GOW 2018 obviously isn't a "true" answer, but I fucking feel it... Such a painfully mediocre, safe game.

It's the only GTA game I ever had the patience to finish and I was still left asking "Was that really it??" upon reaching the credits. I feel like GTA games keep tricking me with their premise/marketing but then the actual games always fall way short.
