The coffee I make at home is legitimately better and a fraction of the cost. Even a fancy $20 bag lasts like what, a month? Vs that's like 3 drinks from a billion dollar corp that doesn't pay their employees enough. Easiest decision ever.

I spotted this on Mastodon and I find it horrible, not least for the speed with which this has happened.

As an art teacher I was worried AI would come up as an issue of "why should I learn how to draw when I can use AI instead."

But the real issue is that my middle schoolers CONSTANTLY believe all art I show them is AI. Digital art. Photography. Oil paintings from the Western canon. "A human couldn't do that"

Being convinced that humans can't make great art is kind of terrifying

I only worked for TWO HOURS today, and I'm already worn out and feeling overstimulated. I didn't realize just how much I wasn't suited for this job until I tried to go back.
Guess I should put in a bit more effort to get something else, huh? Hopefully the next one is ok with me being AuDHD.

So went back to my job today, after a week of being away healing a hurt back. Before I got hurt, I knew that I was burnt out and that I was having a hard time dealing with all the overstimulation from my job. But I had a hard time getting myself to look for a different one......

Many full time creatives have “invisible safety nets” like bread-winning partners, trust funds, external support, etc. No shame on anyone, but it creates a false vision of success. The cost of going to cons alone on top of hoping to eat as a freelancer are untenable, IMO.

The problem really is things are going well, but the world is so unstable that I long for some consistency and income that I don't have to pay quarterly taxes on
