I am truly begging people to use an ounce of critical thinking instead of immediately agreeing with somebody who says something you're primed to agree with, like "insurance companies evil."

Read a little bit more about this, and goddammit we're getting played you guys. The original link from the ASA is very dishonest. They are moving to the CMS standard for anesthesia billing. In other words, they are going to pay the same way they do for Medicare and Medicaid.
This is not to defend Anthem in any way, but that viral article about anesthesiologists is published by their cartel. There's a reason it's one of the highest paid specialties, and why a very common surprise medical bill is for an out of network anesthesiologist on an in-network surgery

I think this is all true and things can flip pretty fast in American politics, but I do think there is much more reason to be pessimistic after a president was impeached twice, then attempted a coup, only to come back and win the popular vote 4 years later.

The Right built a powerful, partisan, & participatory media environment to support its messaging, which offers a compelling "deep story" for its participants. The Left relied upon rigid, self-preserving institutional media and its "story" is little more than a defense of imperfect institutions.
