I wonder if they’ve managed to put it together?

I’ll never forget hearing Donald Trump’s racist “shithole countries” comment in a 2018 Oval Office meeting about immigration.

Tom Cotton and David Perdue claimed Trump didn’t say it and accused me of lying.

The truth comes out.
TRUMP: “I said why is it we only take people from shithole countries? Why can't we have some people from Norway, Sweden, Denmark… But we always take people from Somalia— places that are filthy, dirty, disgusting.”

Such a mystery what he means when he says this stuff, isn’t it?

worth noting here that the position of the conservative legal movement is that trying to remedy environmental racism is itself illegal race discrimination

Trumpers are determined to be a worldwide force for authoritarianism.
Trump's "national security strategy" declares the US will ally with Russia's dictatorship against our NATO allies, and makes the undermining of democratically elected European governments a US foreign policy goal.

1/ A few thoughts about @williambaude.bsky.social’s comment in yesterday’s NYT chat that, “It’s amazing how many of our problems today could be solved by a Congress that was willing and able to legislate in response to national problems.” www.nytimes.com/2025/12/09/o...

2/ First, when Congress has legislated in response to national problems, the Roberts Court has repeatedly either struck it down or interpreted it into a nullity. Congress gave us the Voting Rights Act and its reauthorizations; the Court gave us Shelby County, Brnovich, etc.

This is a key problem thinking about, eg, the base of evidence we'd need to produce as scholars for a renewed VRA. What evidence would SCOTUS find justifies 15th A powers? Is there any? This, as much as anything, is why we need court reform
