Traditionally, of course, paper runs were done by bicycle, on quiet streets that were safe for children.

So perhaps the minister is inadvertently onto something here? 🤔🤔

Simeon Brown tells young jobseekers to “get a paper run” on RNZ this morning 🙀

He is so out of touch, he thinks neighbourhoods still get a daily newspaper delivered

Wayne Brown calling ACT Te Pāti Pākehā on Ryan Bridge’s show, is a scene to behold. 😂

New study from Melbourne finds reducing residential speed limits from 50km/h to 30 km/h on local roads would protect cyclists from danger, make riding less stressful and get more people cycling while not causing traffic delays for cars.
Switching 50km/h speed limits to 30km/h would protect cyclists while barely affecting commutes, research finds
One expert says a cyclist hit by a car travelling 50km/h has about a one-in-ten chance of surviving, while at 30km/h it was a nine-in-ten chance

Starbucks do interiors very well with creating more of a community vibe; good for hanging out with friends or working from home.

Not a fan of multinationals, but would love to see local cafes copy Starbuck’s interior game while serving great coffee.

Do I know any science teachers in Auckland who could help me film a video where I set methane bubbles on fire?

Just without the hard seats and with comfy couches please. 😁
jdeheij.bsky.social
Totally. Was just having a chat with a colleague about this. They do interiors very well with comfy seats / sofa’s, so great for hanging out with friends or working from home.

Our cafes although way better coffee, they have hard seats, so it’s really about getting as much people through the door.

Starbucks Dunedin getting an upgrade. Can they make it like the Bangkok one? Ok. Thanks. Bye. 🙃

Just came back from the Dunedin Track and Trails Trust AGM with multiple trusts there building biking connections and also Spokes working hard to make biking an option in the city. An inspiring evening 😇👏 #loveit

Sad to see Elliot go from the ORC. The youngest regional councillor in the country and the youngest ever in Otago Regional Council. A big advocate for Public Transport, Nature and the Environment. 👏👏👏

But I bet he is going to do amazing things in the future. 🌏

Don’t change Dunedin. You’re a wonderful refreshing place.

How lucky are we with this in our backyard, just around the corner of Ōtepoti Dunedin city centre. 🥰

P.S. a coffee cart halfway St. Leonard’s wouldn’t be amiss, especially if you only have few bars left on your ebike. 😁🚲

Just hope all new councillors are watching Q+A this morning. 😬 Penny Hulse being straight up with the “reduce rates” crowd. And a great shout out to @richardhills.bsky.social 👏👏 #nzpol

Langebrugsteeg, Amsterdam in 1982 and today, cars removed for a bike and pedestrian only street
In 1982 it is a wide street with a central divide and car parking on both sides of it. Today it has wide footways and a bike lane in the middle of it

I will note that in today's Ōtepoti mayoral election the antivaxxer was outvoted by the vampire by almost 2 to 1

6) the same people who vote in this election every time clearly did so again this year and low turnout got them what they wanted.
7) 9 elected Act candidates is 9 too many
8) if the left don’t mobilise, next year is going to be a shitstorm
9) the whole local government system needs an overhaul:
