It’s deeply encouraging to see footage of hostages reuniting with their families and to see Israeli forces withdrawing from Gaza.

There are obviously many more steps to achieving a lasting peace but today’s developments should give us all a profound sense of hope.

I didn't expect to get triggered like that but it seems that once you're out of the adoptee fog, there is no going back. Like so many injustices in our world, once you see it, you can't unsee it.

As many adoptees have pointed out, adoption fog is nonpartisan. It settles on everyone.

I felt like I'd changed the vibes at this otherwise friendly event but people were supportive and the man looked sheepish; he may even have apologized. He did not expect someone to speak up against adoption. The host said she appreciated my comments as well as the speaker's ability to hear me. +

Sukkot is a relaxed, friendly holiday celebrated outdoors in an open structure with snacks in the hosts' backyard (a lesbian couple) but I didn't let the comment go by. I said it's not that simple; I am adopted and mentioned just a few challenges adoptees face (sealed recoreds, no health history). +

However, one clueless man made an offhand comment about adoption. People were talking about having more children than they might want through IVF and he said: You can always have an extra child adopted out. He had no idea this was offensive and was surprised by my triggered reply... 💥 +
