For over a century, the U.S. gov. ran “boarding schools” that tore Native children from their families and cultures. Abuse and death were common. The harms endure.

This #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we must not turn away from this history. Our gov. has a duty to begin the process of healing.
'We survived, we are resilient': Remembering U.S. Indian boarding schools
Tuesday is Orange Shirt Day, when communities honor the survivors of U.S. Indian boarding schools and their descendants.

📣 Advocates are speaking out loudly clearly about what we need from our lawmakers as the shutdown continues:

We demand a deal that reopens the government, cares for the vulnerable, and protects funding from Trump’s authoritarianism.

📣Sen. Rand Paul: "A republic that allows its Executive to kill without law is a republic in deep peril.”

What to know about the Senate vote this week on Trump's illegal military strikes in the Caribbean -- and where we go from here. ⬇️🕊️
The Senate is Inching Closer to Recognizing that War is not the Answer | Friends Committee On National Legislation
Yesterday evening, Sens. Adam Schiff (CA) and Tim Kaine (VA) forced a vote on their War Powers Resolution, S.J.Res.83 to stop the President from using the military in illegal attacks in the Caribbean.

Good news! ⬇️👏

Thank you Senator Kaine for your years of persistent leadership to reassert Congress's war powers and #EndEndlessWars!

We look forward to continuing to advocate alongside you to ensure we get this crucial step over the finish line!

My bipartisan bill with Senator Todd Young to repeal the 1991 and 2002 AUMFs against Iraq passed the Senate! Leaving these AUMFs on the books runs the risk of potential misuse by any president. I’ll keep working to ensure this important provision remains in the final defense bill.

Important reminder: As @schiff.senate.gov noted, "support will only grow" as these strikes continue -- just as we saw with the Yemen War Powers Resolution that passed in 2019 after years of persistent advocacy.

This isn't the end of this effort -- it's a promising beginning.

Thank you to @schiff.senate.gov, @kaine.senate.gov, Sen. Rand Paul, & all 48 Senators who took a principled stand against Pres. Trump's illegal strikes.

We're disappointed by the outcome, but encouraged to see strong & bipartisan support to stop this lawless killing & reassert Congress' war powers.

BREAKING: I just forced a vote with Senator Kaine to block the unauthorized boat strikes in the Caribbean.

In an important step forward, the vote was bipartisan, even if it fell two votes short.
Bipartisan measure to restrict Trump’s war powers fails in Senate

As I wrote in April, the Trump administration is repurposing the “war on terror” framing against a new set of supposed enemies—both foreign and domestic.

If this ceasefire holds, it must mark the beginning of a new path — one where US policy shifts from fueling apartheid and genocide to supporting freedom and safety for all, starting with HR 3565, the Block the Bombs Act.

We must not let this genocide resume or anything like it happen again.

🕊️True peace means the presence of justice, the honoring of human dignity, and the recognition of our shared humanity.

Palestinians deserve freedom, safety, and dignity — not conditional aid or colonial oversight.

Peace will only last when it’s built on equality, accountability, and the right of all people to live free from violence.

What’s missing? A pathway toward true Palestinian sovereignty, rebuilding, and justice.

There was no Palestinian representation at the table. This deal was negotiated without the people most impacted.
fcnl.bsky.social
After two years of relentless bombing and starvation, Palestinian families need a massive surge of aid now.

That means full international aid access must be secured, UNRWA must be restored, and the failed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation must be abolished.
fcnl.bsky.social
Humanitarian aid is supposed to return to pre-war levels — roughly 600 trucks a day, meeting the U.N.’s minimum standards.

📣This is welcome but not enough. Aid should never have been cut off in the first place.

All Israeli hostages in Gaza are set to be released along with 2,000 Palestinians imprisoned in Israel – many of whom are women and children.

We pray that all those unjustly held captives are swiftly returned home.

The deal announced by President Trump follows a 20-point framework drafted by Israel and the U.S.

While the terms remain vague, here are some key things to know ⬇️
