My favorite thing about the Netflix/Hallmark Christmas movies is that everyone is like, I work part-time in a cupcake store in a walkable small town, welcome to my 6-bedroom Victorian house. This one I’m watching features an author who has written one nonfiction book and that’s her whole job. Envy!

Not doing Black Friday because I'm against the creeping Americanisation of Irish life and can't afford to as a small artist, but WILL be doing Vengeful Hag Friday where for every piece of art you purchase from www.ciaraioch.com/artprints I will fervently wish bad cess to your enemies

I told some guy his take on AI in the classroom would age like Victorian patent medicines that were just cocaine for babies, and he’s still crashing out in his own comments three days later. A LOT of people told him he was extremely wrong, and he’s very upset about the tone.

I have found the greatest AI-generated slop cache on the web. I won’t spoil it but you have to make it all the way down to the author bio and photo. I know it’s part of a spam factory and I shouldn’t share it, but somehow it’s both delightful and horrifying

The Michael Schur + Ted Danson juggernaut continues with S2 of A Man on the Inside, now with the addition of Mary Steenburgen. AND set in a struggling small liberal arts college, with all of its silliness (I 100% love the silliness). How can anything be this charming and perfect?

I’m still mad about that FT article that does a lion-sized biiiiiig stretch to draw a straight line from the potential for cable sabotage because of alleged attacks on them in the Baltic, to something something Catherine Connolly is to blame and something something time to give up neutrality

I recently heard someone respond to a question about glossing over the ethics of AI boosterism by talking about having an “ethical balance sheet” and “thinking critically” but I somehow NEVER see the “gotta embrace AI and stay critical” acknowledging actual harms that are BAKED RIGHT IN
Additionally, OpenAI argues its not liable because Raine, by using ChatGPT for self-harm, broke its terms of service

I’m not very good at fitting in with social dynamics and sometimes I forget the way that if you join a conversation between the “not like other girls” girls, you’re gonna get smacked down.

I see the financial times is out being subsea cable experts again. This latest one looks like it’s just for the purpose of smearing Pres Connolly as a danger to national security.

It’s such a bad faith thing, too, since any attempt to refute the piece gets taken as pro-Russia or dangerously naive

I just ordered a ReMarkable (found a good deal on a refurbished bundle!) and looking for your best tips! What will I be able to do with this thing and how will it change my life? Can I still buy pretty notebooks or will I get zapped

Finding out that Swedish vibe coding darlings Lovable never bothered to register for VAT not only tracks, but so does the way it’s bringing out all the people who think laws are boring things for normies who don’t appreciate innovation
