We had a working light bulb in the porch that dated from the 1920s, our telly had thermionic valves, it worked until my dad could not get any replacement valves well into the 70s. We had to turn the tv on 5 minutes before the programme started.

Car had an unexpected potential major fail on MoT today. The mechanic and receptionist came and sat down by me to, very gently, explain what was wrong. All that was missing was the uncomfortable blue settee and tissues (IYKYK)

Fortunately, the mechanic has Magyvered (sp?) a temporary fix.

It’s a bit like parts of the civil service and probably any major organisation. People promoting for 1 skill set start believing they have the skills to properly evaluate everything vaguely in their field and hilariously* don’t.
