Another, different member of the restaurant staff, handing me my bag: “excuse me, ma’am, you forgot your bag in the bathroom.”

Me: “omg thank you!!”

**End scene, eventually, but not before also being deadnamed at least once**
Me, leaving the bathroom and arriving at the table, tits barely contained in this top: “Hi, y’all”

My grandfather, to me: “Well hello, sir! How’re you doing!”
My grandfather, speaking to my wife back at the table: “So, where’s your old man?” *chuckles to himself*

My wife: “My *wife* is in the bathroom”

My grandfather, slowly, as if he’s learning how words work: “Your…wife…”
**Int. BBQ Restaurant in Small Southern United States town - Day**

Me, waiting to use the bathroom

Restaurant staff, squeezing past me: “Excuse me, ma’am; sorry to make you move”

Me, walking into the bathroom: “No problem!”

Content warning: if you don’t want to hear about a trans woman’s final year of erections, idk that sounds like a you problem, but maybe don’t listen
I got to be on my friend Kerry Wee’s podcast to talk about my experiences during my first year of transition, both as an aerialist and as a person. I think it was a fun and interesting chat! You can hear it here!

and definitely before I spent Three Entire Hours on Saturday literally passed out in my bed due to a completely inexplicable exhaustion that just happened to coincide with some pretty intense abdominal cramping and an equally inexplicable bout of acne that’s all
Look I think it’s important to mention the fact that I was actively advocating for paid menstrual leave long before I ever began transitioning…

just to break down the profoundly degraded discursive state we're in
PROTESTORS: the president is not a king! no kings in this country!
PRESIDENT: [posts video of self in crown, shitting on citizens]
PRESIDENT'S FRIEND: there is a king. King Jesus
NOBODY IN PRESS ROOM: you've missed the point
And then later: “I do feel like a slightly terrible feminist for pointing out that you have PMS…”

WELL YOU SHOULD ACTUALLY NEVER MIND I’M SORRY I’M JUST MOODY FOR SOME REASON
But even moreso, it’s extremely annoying that she was absolutely correct about it, I continue to be nature’s fool
Ok yes, there’s something deeply affirming about being asked, after sending a three paragraph message full of hyper self-critical insecurities, “ok but is it possible that you’re just in the luteal phase of your new cycle?”
Look, if I had visit the 2nd Amendment Fetishist Glory Hole (Black Rifle Coffee) for a meeting, at least I got the gender affirmation of the dude cashier giving me my drink for free

For real tho, that place is creepy af I do not think I will be returning
But now, if, again, totally hypothetically, I eat that same French toast in the same purely speculatively way yesterday morning, instead of dripping syrup onto the table, I might, theoretically, instead drip it directly onto my left boob. Five times. Hypothetically.
Before transition, if I was eating, hypothetically, some French toast that my partner made for breakfast yesterday morning, and I dipped it in syrup, I would almost certainly have dripped syrup onto the table as I brought the toast to my mouth to eat it.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

This is the kind of full and unequivocal defense trans people deserve to hear from more candidates for office

I wrote a little about some of the little details you might have missed in this video and why it hit me so hard as a trans person this morning:

Also, PHEW. I know that that absolutely could’ve gone much worse…
