Some preliminary points:
Trump is unlikely to succeed in a claim for defamation against the BBC (on information available).
Even if he succeeded, damages for this alleged defamation would be no more than about £50k, probably less. Even the worst libels, now no more than about £100k.
£1bn? No way.

The fact that the BBC has made serious culpable errors does not negate the point that there is a real and concerted right-wing media campaign to destroy it. Both points can be true at the same time and the campaign would not end even if the errors did.

Erm... these songs are not radio edits.
Turns out Ariana Grande swears quite a 'fucking' lot. As I've just discovered along with a room of other people's kids.
Wouldn't typically be a problem with karaoke, but they haven't even bothered to asterisk the word when it repeatedly appears on screen. 🤦♂️

Currently hosting 10year old daughter's birthday party. She's chosen Karaoke.
Amazingly it is many, many factors worse than even I dreaded it might be.

Not the point here at all, but I'm reminded that one of the things the UK Labour Government is actually trialing is funding grocery vans to take affordable fresh fruit and veg into lower income food deserts, but obviously nobody knows cos they keep banging on about migrants & small boats. Dickheads.
Thinking about the social stigma against eating fast food in a country where poor people are being starved by the govt, the cost of groceries and fresh vegetables are astronomical, and a cheeseburger at McDonald’s costs $3.50.
“Clean” and “healthy” eating rhetoric is racist, ableist, and classist.

Holy shit. That's absolutely mad.
Here we have a moral panic about people donating food to food banks that requires expensive gas/electricity energy to cook.
In the US the Government actually mandates it as a requirement.
What a weirdly sadistic, fucked up country.

Most people don’t know that with SNAP you are banned from buying “foods that are hot at the point of sale”. So even if you have SNAP (which people don’t now) you can’t get cooked food. Which means you need to also actually have the resources to PREPARE a “healthy” meal.

Before I go and ask AI (which I fundamentally object to, but equally recognise would probably do this quickly and easily*) can anyone suggest if there is a way on either a Microsoft office programme, or some other free software to select a load of photos and have them put into a collage?

I'm not a regular customer so this could have been the case for ages and I just hadn't noticed, but when the hell did a Subway 6" meal deal start costing nearly a tenner? That just seems obscene.

Just wondering, cos... idk, the meltdown binfire of US politics at the moment is quite fascinating and a useful distraction from the absolute state of events over here.

It’s fascinating comparing the front page coverage of the Huntingdon train attack (below) with how the British press treated another case 30 years ago.
I’m referring to the 1995 Netto supermarket attack in Birmingham in which a man stabbed 10 people, killing one of them.

Dublin, I am in you. Right next to Custom's House if that means anything.
Footloose, fancy free and alone on a Monday night. Open to suggestions for dinner and a couple of drinks.

I'm going on a ferry today.
I am actually, genuinely, very excited, but I can't let anyone know because I'm 41yrs old, not 8.

Be interesting/depressing to see how quickly this story fades away now we know the attacker is both British born and mentally ill, but also that the heroes are both from professions usually framed as 'enemies of hard working tax payers'.

Anyway, stoked to see how the political tendency that has spent decades cutting mental health funding, advocating for driverless trains and mocking attempts to ban big knives deals with a train driver and guard’s swift action helping end a mentally ill man’s rampage with a big knife.

Apropos of nothing, reminder of this thread & story which gained frankly next to no attention other than twats who hadn't read the article making Harry Potter jokes & reminiscing about how they used to set off bangers at local rec. Jew hate & Mosque attack fantasy totally cool if you're white, obvs.
Wow - those are quite phenomenal headlines given the details of the story.
Ahh look, he’s just a ‘nerdy’ guy. No harm done.
You need to scroll down to paragraph 13 of the Sky piece to find the full story!

I'm really not sure how you manage a problem like Temu.
Of course, the Government can't be seen to excessively restrict choice or access for the public, but how on earth can you enforce existing regulations both intellectual property and safety/quality with such a massive flood of products?

I wonder how the MAGA cult would feel about this? Does their suspension of basic integrity stretch to Vance, or is it exclusively reserved for Trump?

If real, then why doesn't the Whitehouse have opaque glass in the toilet?
If AI then my question isn't why there's a chandelier in the bathroom, but... why is he posting a picture of a toilet?
Is this just more of the 'I'm shitting on you all' rhetoric?
