I stand corrected, the fire originated in a hydrocracking unit. That would actually correlate more with what witnesses reported due to the sound and intensity of the fire rather than a leaking liquid fire, the unit is shown below and is slightly northwest of that vessel I mentioned above
It would be wild if there was, perhaps, an entire program mediated by the EPA and OSHA to regulate highly hazardous materials that was also extended to include refineries and an organization had recommended the NFPA reclassify refinery products. Unfortunately such a program does not exist!
In another refinery incident there was a circulation pump located just under the white circular vessel you see in this image that failed. From the description of the event and the location, I’d take an estimated guess and say pipeline failure or some sort of flange failure.
On another note, the CSB report should be good. I do enjoy refinery investigations
Certainly a realistic, literal way of thinking about this…
Really gotta check these days
Bring back public shaming
Wow, the University of Washington's Psych 201 class does *not* play

go fuckin Huskies

Nazi UW students fuck off
The 1tb hard drive on my desk begs to differ, mr. osha/epa inspector man. I do in fact have your interpretation letter here…
The EPA is cool and all as an agency and I get why my company is potentially a bit hesitant to allow open dialog with them but… they’re just a bunch of fellas. The dudes, even. Wader-wearing, rather weird, “I found a cool bug during my inspection of your facility” girlies
Hello darkness, my old friend…
Oh I see it is a severely worn away hook from a transmission tower that sparked and started the fire which destroyed the town of Paradise, thanks. Anyway, love those guys over at PG&E. They’ve never done anything wrong idk why you guys pick on them so much
Ok what am I looking at here
By midwest standards where things are designed to break and then rebuilt easily (tornado alley and such), I am routinely impressed that we do not lose power more often. Strangely the most severe power outages we have are often from MVAs…
Is that “value” given in the form of figuring out how to perform basic life functions in the 21st century with no electricity?
Presented without comment except for this, the comment explaining there is no comment.
We had .82” of rain in less than five hours and we didn’t have a single power outage here AND my internet connectivity even remained intact. PG&E is a silly goose
Aftermarket solutions to problems that shouldn’t exist is, unfortunately, a familiar process.
To reiterate an opinion I’ve expressed many times, if I have to use someone else’s stuff to get rid of your trash as a manufacturer, stuff that you can block if you care, you have failed me as a customer. In fact, I assume I’m not your customer.
Sometimes I have a very specific way I want to say something but I can’t think of the word I need so I use a synonym but it pisses me off internally even though it probably sounds fine to whoever I’m talking to. Probably not relatable at all just thought about my internal dialogue problems smh
For the record, a level A hazmat suit is not needed for an HCl spill
I am the guy who intentionally doesn’t say THE in Ohio state university. Fuck Ohio in particular. Not necessarily the university, just the state. And everything in it.
Ouch. That’s not a good attribution and horribly out of context 🥲
