Yeah. In addition to just basic decency, as part of your job being an elected official you have to act in the interest of the country.

Yeah this is the incredibly frustrating part. I assume people in the media know this and are acknowledging that the President gets blamed for stuff anyways, but some more education would help.
One of the weird elephants in the room that no one wants to quite talk about head on is that the entire conceit of the neoliberal political economy is that elected leaders can't control the price level! So no wonder everyone is going run right into a brick wall.

This... actually makes sense
what if Trump actually didn't do anything illegal in the files but there's proof of the thing with Bill Clinton and that's why he's flipping out.

I never know what is going to matter but this feels like a major blunder
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

So would the new California map not go into effect then?
Whoa: A federal court just barred Texas from using its new congressional map, drawn by the GOP to target Dems.

"Substantial evidence shows that Texas racially gerrymandered the 2025 Map."

Court says the old map must be used in 2026. Appeals are certain. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

I do have to say, props to prison abolitionists for shifting from "prison abolition requiring going back to lynching is a horrific lie by our enemies" to "lynchings and blood feuds are actually European peasant indigenous ways of knowing."
Revenge/physical combat was how people settled things for literally millions of years, it's normal human behavior, we're wolves not sheep, the government project trying to social engineer us and domesticate us into sheep has been unsuccessful

I don't have this strong notion of what America is or is not, the way right-wingers do, but this is definitely what I WANT America to be.

I like hearing what these guys have to say, but my feed is intolerable when they're doing their near daily series of (completely valid and devastating) dunk-posts. I could do with fewer of those, guys.
Is anyone else's feed just @radiofreetom.bsky.social and @whstancil.bsky.social defending themselves from morons with no reading comprehension?

Hilarious but I've always been against the concept of impostor syndrome. The problem is that we have too many actual impostors running around in the world. People with impostor syndrome are accurately assessing their abilities! Don't encourage them to stop!

TIL that parishes in Louisiana (read: counties) call their assembly/city council "police jury". Like there's the Jackson Parish Police Jury. That's an insane name for that.

I think a lot of the criticism of "prediction markets" is in the name. It is the participants who are making predictions, not the markets.

That said, it can be interesting to look at what the participants with real money on the line are saying.
