We need to understand how to stop them being destroyed
That's a human problem not an ecological one, so economics, political ecology, sociology, anthropology, behavioural science etc are more useful than biology

Fascism wields hypocrisy as a shield and absurdity as a cudgel against institutional power and society in the first efforts to undermine social order and start the process of malign social construction and the erosion of the democratic systems that underpin government.
It is fucking insane that we had a decade of people complaining about the dangers of cancel culture, and now literally hundreds of thousands of people are being purged from government jobs for ideological reasons, but that is not cancel culture.

Every so often, it just comes back to me in full force. The political and economic order that allowed this man to come to power is obviously no longer tenable. The leaders who let it happen obviously have to be replaced. This is an epoch defining failure and we have to turn the page completely.

My God: they are selling off federal buildings and no longer planning on collecting revenues.
Again, none of this is about efficiency. I know the IRS is not popular, but for every dollar invested it generates about $7 in returns. The goal is not to save money but to stop collecting it.

accelerationism is an idealist fantasy whose core faith is the spontaneity of mass (re)action. it forgets entirely that all political action requires organization. conditions are never sufficient, no matter how bad they get; there is no such spontaneity. this is why it is ultimately antipolitical
The accelerationist belief that if things get bad enough, then things will start to get better is quite something to see in the wild. It’s wrong though. Historically, misery creates more misery and is visited on the most marginalized in ever intensifying cycles of horror.
